I have been to Gutiz about 30 times and it is just wonderful. They started with Chef Eduardo, but his assistant (Gabby?) was SO good, that when the place sold several years ago, her staying was part of the deal. Thanks to the new owners for never letting her go.

The Patio is just ok next to the busy main drag and an oil change place....but it's walled off and works well enough. Inside is much better. It's informal but intimate. Everything is a deep Marigold Orange. Very Taos. Even the sauces range from deep yellow to....marigold orange. The 'Latin-French' is really very South American. That just sounds expensive. But all the entrees are $7.00-14.00. That's a steal for real food. Try the Vegetable Tartine. Try anything. Highly recommended.

The service is friendly and homey, the coffee is great, (very important for us!) The food is original, fresh and very well made. Not far from all the action, right on the main drag in Taos!

Living in, and eating out in Taos can get boring... especially for breakfast. Gutiz has a varied menu with something for everyone. I went with some co-workers last week and someone ordered the ham and mushroom crepe, which I neve even considered. On a whim I ordered one too, and I am glad I did. I have been craving it since! The chai is also delicious (and I believe it is made in-house?).
The atmosphere is cozy, the service can be decent or awful, depending on the day. But the food is worth it!

This has become our new go-to special breakfast in Taos. The benedict is the best in town. I always add the fresh, marinated tomatoes on top. If you really want the flavor indulgence...try it on a croissant. Mint lemonade is also the bomb!!
