We enjoyed the layout of the museum and the variety of art it offered (Pottery, weaving, jewelry, painting etal). The staff was very nice but we thought the gift shop prices were high.

A really great place with an interesting story. The collections of rugs, jewelry, pottery, and baskets were impressive.

We did like the beautiful jewelry and art of the natives, Millicent did collect. There was more to see but we did like it that much.

My wife & I visited the museum on 9/3 with another couple & found it to be pleasant, informative, but largely unimpressive versus the many museums we've seen world-wide. In particular, the museum struck me as largely a shrine to the narcissism of Millicent Rogers, featuring her specially-designed, exquisitely tailored, southwest Indian-inspired clothing & her huge array of southwest jewelry. The many photos of her showed a consistently tight-lipped, arch-eyebrowed woman who created her own unique style & settings. However, I thought that the whimsical drawings she had made for her small children to illustrate a fable humanized her (before she moved to Taos).

The museum's numerous small showrooms each had a unifying theme, a number of which were quite interesting. In particular, the black-on-black pottery of the Martinez family was excellent. In retrospect, I would have rather spent more time gallery-hopping in Taos enjoying contemporary art.
