The setting is beautiful, off Blueberry Hill Rd, lovely scenery. Convenient to town. The home is pretty much as advertised and the photos are accurate. A big positive is the quiet and tranquility. Our four nights were comfortable. But the home sees a lot of visitor traffic with the actual owners only showing up about once a year for a couple of weeks (according to a neighbor). Once you get into the house you notice that you are paying top dollar but getting a lower level of maintenance in a home that's showing wear and tear.
We've rented five vacation homes in Taos since 1999. This is the first time we felt we paid to much. Outside yard care is very neglected, a shame since it is clear that once the property was quite nice. The hot tub is warm and clean but so over treated with chemicals that skin irritation is possible. The beds are passable but need new mattresses. When we arrived some lamps needed new bulbs and half the kitchen track lights don't work. The kitchen is equipped, but is missing a kettle and pop up toaster. The fridge was full of dripped water from a malfunction on the ice maker. Cleaning was perfunctory, hurried.
Four nights here is ok, but had we rented for longer we'd have been asking for an adjustment to our fee. So, to sum up, this place needs TCL. Once it gets that we can recommend it. Until then we suggest considering alternative homes.
