“Pet-Friendly Overnight Stop On Way From Santa Fe To Las Cruces”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

On a deserted stretch of I-25 we were 22 miles east of the Trinity Site where the first nuclear bomb was exploded on July 16, 1945 as we approached the Comfort Inn exit in Socorro. It was a big room with lots of drawers and shelf space. Our cat liked to play peekaboo on the shelves. We went to dinner at K-Bob’s Steakhouse right next door. We had dessert at McDonalds -- also right next door --- and went back to the room. We took the dog and cat for a walk around the property after we fed them from doggie bags prepared by K-Bob's. It was such a pet-friendly location that the front desk staff waved at my cat going past in his stroller. The dog wolfed down the shrimp and steak along with the rice from K-Bob's. The cat tasted it and loved it, too. The Comfort Inn Socorro is an historic, convenient, and pet-friendly overnight stop on the way from Santa Fe to Las Cruces. Stay here! It's far better than the Comfort Inn at Truth or Consequences.
P.S. On the way back from Santa Fe when we stayed here overnight I got some lovely sunset photos in the parking lot of the motel. This is the high Southwest.

Room Tip: The ground floor is more convenient if you are traveling with pets. It also makes loading and unload...

A. Very Clean , comfortable, quiet place to stay . We will stay here again without hesitation! The manager and staff were very helpful and considerate of our needs. They had a room ready for our early arrival, most hotels won't do that.

Stayed here for four nights on business. This town doesn't have many decent options so I was concerned when making the reservations. The check in was quick and efficient. The king room was exceptionally large. There was a microwave and a small refrigerator. Wifi had a very good signal. Although it was very cold outside, I never had to use the heat in my second floor room. The walls and floors are not very soundproof as mentioned in other reviews. You can hear a lot of what is going on in the next room and in the hallway. The rooms were kept very clean by housekeeping. Breakfast is very basic but it's free so there were no complaints. We didn't use the indoor pool. I heard from other guests that there is no reason to use the fitness center because there is nothing in there of benefit. I would stay here again but there's not enough to make it move it up to a "very good" rating. The location is on the north end of town but it's literally a two minute drive to "downtown".

Room Tip: stay on the ground floor if you are in a hurry. The elevator is extremely slow.

I was pleasantly surprised with how nice our room was at this Comfort Inn. The room (at the back of the property) was large, nicely furnished with good beds. The room was very quiet and there were no issues with hearing any other guests at the hotel. There was also a nice, free breakfast at the front of the hotel. Staff was very helpful at check in and at breakfast. A good value if you are staying in this area.

The only problem I can write about are the paper thin walls in the motel, we could hear the next door occupant's and they were only speaking in a normal voice. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, the pool area was a Godsend for the grand kids to burn off a little steam after 7 hours in the back seat. Would use again if in the area.

We were very pleased with our room which was very quiet and on the top floor, as we requested. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was adequate. Nothing fancy but what you would expect at a Comfort Inn. Mid range hotels tend to be very pricey in Socorro. Probably because there are limited options between Albuquerque and Las Cruces.

After a long day on the road and unable to reach the town and hotel of choice we decided to
spend the night here as we were running out of options. We felt that this hotel was over priced for the hotel and location. We have stayed at Comfort Inns and Suites in the past and
we both were surprised by the quality of this hotel. First issue that concerned us when we asked to look at the room and found that the room that the clerk gave us a key to was occupied---whooops! Security issues perhaps? Second room to view was a handicapped room with a left over depends on the floor beside the bed, out of view when you enter the room, so apparently overlooked by the maids when cleaning the room----whooops! Third room we selected ( as we were very tired) but I noticed crumbs on kitchen counter and floor area around it. I cleaned the counter
myself and coffee table, noticed carpet had crumbs too.
Breakfast was included, but very fair to below average in quality, tables not cleaned and not that inviting. Just okay.
Front desk clerks need a refresher course, friendly at times but not overly professional as during check out there was a teenage girl sitting on floor behind counter with a less than happy look on her face. Have never seen that before.
Ice was on payment around the entire parking lot and entrance, so could be a safety issue,
especially at night.
Would I stay at this hotel again, most likey I would not, as I did not feel that it was worth the money.
