“Very good and good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

Visited this restaurant after reading the TripAdvisor reviews. After a few days of eating low quality food, this place was a welcome surprise. The service was quick and helpful. The complimentary chips were very fresh and a change from restaurants that serve them out of a bag. I'm not familiar with burritos having potatoes in them but it was actually pretty good. After eating some of the blandest ground beef at two different restaurants, it was nice to taste real beef for once. I would come back here again.

“Don't eat at Denny's”

Visit a historical diner just down the street. Better food. Breakfast burrito is great, hamburgers are great. Typical diner coffee.

“A local favorite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

My wife and I live in Socorro and visited El Sombrero in Dec 12. It has good food at a reasonable price. The service is prompt & friendly and the food is hot (stove). There are three main seating areas with a high ceiling courtyard setting in the rear. The restaurant is a local favorite. They have a nice buffet on Wednesdays lunch.

“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

We ended up here for lunch while on a road trip. What a happy find! Right off the highway, so very convenient for travelers. Inside was very cool- with a nice indoor courtyard. Service was excellent. Food was very good - home cooked feel to it. Very reasonably priced. Great find! Absolutely would go back!

“A first stop must.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

The inside decor is authentic. The Mexican dishes are out of this world. I had the cheese enchilada, with chicken and an egg over easy with green chili on top. I can eat this everyday. Does not compare to the Mexican dishes here in Chicago. Much, much better in Socorro at El Sombrero. The staff were great. I suggest that you eat in the "inside garden" area. Running fountain, bright and sunny. Next trip there, it's lunch at El Sombrero!!! Oh and don't forget the pastry with honey placed inside.
