“One of only a few EXCELLENT hotels I've seen!”
Reviewed May 29, 2009

I recently reviewed a really horrible hotel in Tempe Arizona, so this is a major contrast (thank goodness!).
On my way driving to AZ I stopped for the night in Santa Rosa at this hotel. It was beautiful, clean, friendly, perfect location, easy parking. Incredibly comfortable. Very nicely appointed room. Easy access. Very quiet and restful. I loved it so much I changed our return plans in order to stay there. I would recommend it to anyone. Not one complaint (and I have pretty high standards). I think anyone running a hotel should look to the La Quinta chain for inspiration. Also, anyone looking for a lovely hotel should look to La Quinta as well. They are doing it right. (No, I'm not working for La Quinta, no affiliation to them at all.)

Wow, what a great place. It has to be one of the nicest rooms we have stayed with our pet. Very spacious and clean. Beautiful Decor, comfy beds and micro and fridge. It overloked the spa. The pool and spa were great! The Breakfast was excellent.. Sausage, Biscuits and gravy.scrambled eggs, etc..Top Notch.

Another nice stay at a La Qunita. You cannot go wrong. It has great value and a good breakfast. Tip - go to Lake City Diner (it really is not a diner) in town. It is an old bank or something. The food was very good. This is a very Pet friendly hotel.

There are not many places to stay along I-40 when traveling across eastern New Mexico and this hotel was at a convenient stopping point. Our first impression of the lobby was a good one since it was clean and well maintained. As soon as we checked in we got our first disappointment. We were placed on the third floor but there was no elevator. So we had to drag all of our luggage and toys for our toddler up the stairs. The hallways were dark and the rooms were very outdated. None of us felt comfortable taking a shower because the fixtures and tub were stained and looked 30 years old. This "inn" was reminiscent of a 1960s motel except with the doors facing inside. Everything beyond the lobby is outdated and dark. Not a very comfortable place to stay. We have learned after staying at various La Quintas across the country that many are takeovers of old, dilapidated hotels so there is no standard for their hotels. Definitely check these online and look at the pictures before choosing to stay at a La Quinta.

We stayed at the La Quinta in Santa Rosa on the way driving from central Texas to Durango CO for vacation in June 2008. We would certainly stay at this property again. Our room was clean and comfortable (two beds - myself, husband, and two sons, ages 15 and 6). The grounds are well maintained. The hotel is also pet-friendly - we saw lots of dogs with their people. A hot breakfast was included, which was a great value - scrambled eggs, sausage, two waffle makers, bagels, cereal, muffins, three kinds of juice, milk, coffee, and probably several other choices that I can't remember. We booked using our AAA membership and our total price was about $90. Would definitely stay there again.

Traveling east on I-40, we were planning to drive as far as Tucumcari to spend the night. But a blinding March snowstorm derailed our plans. We got off the highway at Santa Rosa, and ultimately were very glad that we did.

The hotel is quite new and very pretty. We had a spacious room with a king bed, which had a thick, plush, comfortable mattress, a big TV, and a fridge and microwave.

The good-sized bathroom had excellent lighting, a large outside vanity, and toiletries not usually provided at this mid-scale level: shampoo and conditioner, lotion, makeup remover, and mouthwash.

The breakfast was unusually complete, too, with waffles, REAL scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, pastries, bread, bagels, cereal.

The hotel is PET-FRIENDLY, as well.

And the rate was, with a coupon from the gas station travel magazine, was only $60 (not sure if there was an additional charge for our little dog). All in all, we couldn't have asked for more, and this gem is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is without doubt the best hotel in town, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms spotless, it is located high above town with excellant views, we drove to see Billy the Kids grave not far away and the whole area is worth exploring, situated on the old route 66 there are many historical buildings around, we ate at Josephs diner which was very good value, all in all a very good stay, I would
stay there again when in town.
