Morukuru Family Madikwe
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 15, 2012

All the things you have read about Morukuru are true & if I could allocate more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat. The setting, decor, service, food & drinks are sensational, the natural beauty is both subtle & spectacular & every game drive is rewarding in so many ways but it does come down to the savvy Morukuru team who obviously love their chosen lifestyle & go above & beyond to generously share the treasures of the Madikwe reserve & Morukuru with every guest. We spent 4 days filled with great conversations & a lot of laughs, exciting & restful moments, an excess of delicious food, a fantastic massage to alleviate an annoying injury & came away with an inaugural SA bird list of 100 species, more animals ( big & otherwise) than we dreamed we would see and enough photos, stories & memories to last a long time.

Room Tip: No room tips req'd. From what I saw everywhere is awesome.

We stayed at Morukuru Farmhouse to celebrate as a family for a 50th wedding anniversary.
The service was impeccable, the house a dream. We stayed two nights and were overwhelmed by the warmth of the team. We felt totally at home (my son even wanted to clear his plate at dinner!). I would highly recommend the farmhouse for a truly amazing home feel and a beautiful game reserve. The food was delicious. Thanks for Andrew we saw four of the big five. Carrie made sure we had an African Thanksgiving and surprised us with a beautiful home made anniversary cake. We will not forget Rose's beautiful singing and Isaac's dance movements!

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the Morukuru Farm House with our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. It was an anniversary gift from them and the whole trip was just unbelieveable. It was our first safari and the experience will stay with us for the rest of our lives. The management, Andrew and Carrie and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and cared for right down to decorating the dinner table for Thanksgiving and baking a special anniversary cake for us and singing some beautiful African songs.
The accomodations were luxurious, the surroundings beautiful, the food teriffic.....I could go on and on.
The best part was the trips into the Reserve with Andrew as our guide. We saw every animal imaginable except the leopard who kept well hidden up in the hills. Andrew was extremely knowledgeable and we felt very comfortable with him as we came very close to lions, elephants and rhinos and many others too numerous to mention.
I would highly reccomend the Morukuru Family to anyone wanting to experience the trip of a lifetime.

Our stay at Morukuru Lodge was absolutely perfect!! This was our first safari and it surpassed all expectations. The team at Morukuru are outstanding, we were met at the airstrip by Anthony and Temba, who were to be our guide and tracker, and from the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. We stayed in the Lodge which was luxury in the bush. Our chef, Joyce, produced some of the best dishes we have tasted, and we would challenge Ramsey or Oliver to better the menu on offer.

The game drives were amazing and we saw some fantastic animals, including the "big five", but Anthony's knowledge of the African wildlife and his wealth of experience, made this trip totally unforgettable. I'm sure all the other guides and trackers are great, but if you can ask for Anthony and Temba, I know you will not get a better insight into the wildlife in the reserve!

We arrived at Morukuru not knowing what to expect, but left knowing that we will return as there can be no better place to experience this wonderful country. It certainly was a trip of a life time that none of us will forget.

Room Tip: All room were fantastic with huge comfortable beds

Staying in the Morukuru Farmhouse has been a unique magnificent experience. Excellent rooms and beautiful surrounding, lovely pool and great staff who delivered superb service. We have seen all animals you can think of, and our game drives were a joy every time, with interesting explanation of Neil. Every day a different place where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Amazing what this team can do for you. An unforgettable wonderful experience that I can recommend to anyone!

The best service by the friendliest staff
The best breakfast, dinner and drinks not only because of the quality buts also because of the beautiful daily changing locations
The best game drives and actually meeting the big 5 close up
The ambience, the rooms, the pool, the total experience

What can I say I hope to be back one day!! And thanks again @!

We were so fortunate to visit Morukuru in June 2012. Myself, my husband and our 3 boys (ages 7,9 and 9) were all blown away by our experience. The Lodge was stunning, the service was world class and the animals were unforgettable. We have had some wonderful family vacations over the years, but this trip was so much more. Our guide (Anthony) and Tracker (Timba) were amazing with our boys-- explaining, in depth, the animals that we saw. There was never a dull moment- from playing soccer with elephant dung, to eating a termite, to a contest to see who could spit giraffe dung the furthest- the boys were in HEAVEN! Of course, we (the parents) got to relax and enjoy ourselves with superb game viewing, wonderful meals (Joyce is genius!), and our every whim attended to (thank you Evans!). This is the absolute best family vacation/ experience we have ever had. I would love, love, love to go back!!!!
