We stayed at the Tau Game Lodge as part of our trip from Capetown to Dar es Salaam on Rovos Rail. The accommodations were excellent with world class crusine. The rangers and safari experiences were fantastic. We sighted all the big five and many others. Chantelle was our ranger and she is excellent!

I stayed at Tau over a weekend in mid January 2014. It was a fantastic experience. The rooms were very nice and the outdoor shower was different and enjoyable. The staff were fully attentive and could not do enough for you.

The meals were great, especially breakfast after the game ride where eggs were cooked to order. Food was plentiful (which is probably why I gained 5+ pounds on the trip).

The game drives, because of the knowledge of the guides, were unbelievable and to have the experience to see lions "up close and personal" will be a lifetime memory.

If I have the chance (I live in the US), I will do my best to return.

My daughter had her wedding at Tau in Jan 2014. We had the most fantastic experience from beginning to end. From the reservation staff to the management, everyone was so helpful and informative. The effort and organisation that went in to every detail was exceptional.
Thank you for making an event that would normally be stressful into something I could sit back and enjoy!!!

Absolutely wonderful! Friendly and welcoming staff. Great location around a water hole. Clean rooms. Clued up game ranger - Iggy, you made our game drives a truly African bush experience. Had a bit of a problem with our room allocation as the room we booked had people in it and we were allocated a family suite which was not ready at check in. We stayed for two nights and had to move to another room the next day but everything was handled so professionally and in good spirit that we did not feel bad about it. Of the four lodges we visited while on holiday this was our favourite. Marcus we will definitely be coming back for another stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to the middle of the water hole.

Beautifully designed and set, with cosy chalets, wonderful main lodge and nice bomas.
Great views from rooms and main building, across wide watering hole full of birds, fish and crocs.
Excellent service and staff that makes you feel at home, relaxed and looked after - without being 'in your' face all the time.
Nice little touches like the soaps, turndown and welcome notes and many more.
The staff always makes sure that your special occasion will be celebrated accordingly as well :)
We have travelled a lot and worked in hospitality as well and as everyone have their own taste - I believe many will also love this lodge.
Our favourite guide Megan is great and also enthusiastic and there is so many other names I could mention here but I don't want to leave anyone out as they all deserve a pat on the back :)
We will be returning again and again

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of the watering hole, for more than two people I recommend family units with c...

We really liked Tau Game lodge with nice facilities, close to animals and serviceminded staff. We felt that staff cared about guests and in our case. Our luggage didn't arrive (this is Africa) at the same time they where really helpful lending us some of their own stuff. Our room was maybe a little dark due to few lamps. Exciting with shower outdoors knowing there were baboons in the neighbourhood. Very nice to sit on the veranda looking at the animals coming close to the lodge for drinking water etc.

In November I spent 5 days in Madikwe Game Reserve. I decided to spoil myself and stayed at Tau Game Lodge. It turned out to be the best holiday in a long time! The lodge is very tastefully laid out with all rooms (individual chalets) overlooking the waterhole. Each is beautifully decorated and has a private deck for game viewing. The staff and particularly the game rangers were wonderful, knowledgeable, considerate and polite and prepared to cheerfully do more than was asked of them. The food was very delicious indeed! The setting of the restaurant overlooking the water hole is quite spectacular. A bit of pampering in the Spa added to an already fabulous stay. Best of all was the wildlife, with elephants regularly coming to drink close-up. The resident lions made for some great photography, as did all the other wildlife, such as rhino. I can hardly wait to go back!
