Absolutely fabulous from start to finish. Lovely room with amazing view of the water hole. The outdoor shower was a fun experience and the game drives were great too. The food was absolutely superb as well and the staff were all warm, friendly & very helpful. Can't fault anything, highly recommend this lodge.

Room Tip: We stayed in room nr 10 and had the best view of the animals at the watering hole. They seemed to be...

I just spent two nights at Tau in early November and it was absolutely amazing! The accommodations were top notch, the food was great, and the game drives were out of this world. Our ranger, Stephan, was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and I loved having my own private deck overlooking the waterhole.

It is not a tented old school style safari but its great. Drivers a the best. We saw it all and then some. I am off to Tanzania for more safari after Tau got me hooked. You will love sitting by the pool, sipping cheap drinks, eating good food. The rooms on the water hole are unreal.

I wrote a review back in 2009 after our second stay here and after just coming back for our third stay, just wanted to confirm that everything is still as excellent as it was back in 2008 and 2009! To mix it up a bit this time we also stayed at another lodge a bit further South. We've also stayed on the East side of Madikwe and felt maybe we were missing out by always going back to Tau, but even though the other lodge was also very nice, my husband and I both agreed that when, not if, we go back, it will be Tau again! I guess the old saying fits for us, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Thanks Tau for yet another great getaway! See you in 2012 :)

We had just 2 nights before we had to leave Africa and decided to go here as it was not too far from Johannesburg. We were met with a welcome drink upon arrival then taken to our rooms. What a lovely cottage we were taken to that overlooked the watering hole. The view was fascinating and we were to see many animals come there to drink in the next two days! The bed was arranged magically with the mosquito net and towels as well as the beautiful tub and outdoor shower. The food was delicious and they graciously cater to dietary restrictions! Then the drives were amazing seeing so many different animals in so many different ways. Our guide, Mora, did an excellent job in getting us to see them in many locations while having our safety always in mind. I would come again if ever in So Africa.

Room Tip: We stayed in rm 8

We were booked here as part of a Rovos Rail trip - Pride of Africa Capetown to Dar es Salaam.
Our cottage was well equipped however because it was winter and the wind was blowing the room was a bit chilly. The buffet provided for all 3 meals was excellent. The bar was well stocked.
The Game Drives we went out on were with Ernest. We did a total 10.5 hours of Game drive over 3 days and it was hands down fabulous.
I'd recommend this property.

A great lodge with great people. Was tree for business but the staff made it feel like a holiday. Wonderful game viewing too. A must try - outside showers in winter when it is still dark - awesome!
