In my position a s travel company owner, it is incumbent on me to visit the properties we are using and occasionally visit " new " properties to fully evaluate their offerings. Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is a firm favourite with our clients and I had the opportunity to revisit them last week ( Tuesday 07.June 7 & Wednesday 08 June ).

Being part of the &Beyond group, thier is an expected high overall level of service to be expected. This was evident in the special arrival details they fully managed with one of their managers waiting till gone 19.00 for my arrival for onward transfer to River Lodge. Mike our young ranger was effusive ! Dinner was delayed for my arrival and nothing seemed too much effort to ensure once I had arrived that I was to relax in their company. Once an excellent dinner of a rich and complex butternut soup followed by an exceptionally tender crispy duck was done & dusted, Mike took me to my suite. Oh the peace & solitude. It was a cloudy and often drizzling night but to stand on my balcony witnessing Mother Nature in her PJ's, refreshing.

Early morning had me back on my balcony welcoming a grey, wet morn but with such glee ! Their suites are grand in size and design. Well laid out and purposeful rather than just five star facilities in the African bush. Breakfast was brief but out of design, we needed to be taken to their other properties within the Reserve and then be on our way. Mandy, their Opperations manager did this deed. What a pleasure to be in the company of such a driven soul. Fully knowledgeable about her product, refurbs and the way forward for this Relais & Chateaux product. Mandy exuded pride in her staff & management team, spoke of the many ways in which they look to enhance childrens time at Kwandwe especially at Ecca Lodge which is best described as bright, light and family focussed.

As I bid farewell to Mike, Mandy & their smilling team there was one more interesting aspect to absorb. A Winter Warmer kit ! A first for me after fourteen years within this industry I got to put on a full body suit ( with mittens ! ), hoodie at all for their guests to use during the winter months ( June to end September ). What an innovation for those who would rather huddle around a fire, now you can be warm all over AND get to interface with Mother Nature. An excellent way in which Kwandwe are looking to provide an exceptional experience for their guests.
