We stayed at Simbavati through a Bushscapes special and wow, what an awesome stay. (may not have been possible without this) We spent 4 days at Kruger Park: 2 in the Park itself and 2 at Simbavati Hills, which was great to experience both sides. We originally thought you could access it through Kruger but needs travel outside the park, and a little further than planned. Simbavati was a wonderful stay all-round, from the staff, the service, the guide (Colbert), the game drives, the meals, the room and the pool. We saw amazing sightings while there including a wild dog and hyena fight, and a lion with his kill. The time of year was good too, hot but green. Thanks for a great getaway.

My stay here was seriously perfect. The lodge is beyond relaxing/spa like and the staff caters to your every need. Eddie was my safari guide and he also happens to be one of the GMs. Not only did Eddie know everything there is to know about the animals, but he also shared the same excitement as the tourists when we got word of an animal sighting. Eddie's excitement and passion for what he does made you as the tourist have even more fun, you can tell he absolutely loves his job. This was my first safari experience and I honestly don't think it could have been any better. We saw the big five in my 3 days there and each safari ride was more exciting and fun than the last. Also, because this lodge is private, unlike Kruger, we were able to go off roading and into the bush. We had several situatons where the animals were far into the bush and had we been at Kruger, we would have had to stay on the main road and not been able to go into the bush to see the animals. For those of you doing research on where to stay, you're crazy to not put Simbavati Hilltop Lodge a the top of your list! -Neil Gulden

What a wonderful way to spend one's time in the Bush. The tents are brand new, and so spacious! Outside Shower and Bath with a view. The decks, bar and pool all have a view over the valley, and it was a really great time. Very much recommended.

Stayed here for 2 nights this weekend ( 6 adults and 2 teenagers ). Food good to excellent but they unfortunately do not believe in under the Africa sky braai. Staff excellent and our guide Nelson excellent and tried his best to show us the big 5. Sadly no rhino and no lion but great leopard sighting. Not wheelchair friendly unfortunately, but lodge very well appointed and rooms very well equipped. Would give it 4 stars but staff extremely noisy and loud early in mornings and this will upset many visitors and even left the pool area and went back to my room for a little bit peace and quite, but they still kept on making a huge noise, NO consideration to any of lodge guests and this from 06h30 in the morning. Room 8 the best view and room 5 and 6 also worth while, avoid room 7 though.

Room Tip: Room 8 best and highest view and furthest from main lodge.

Dear W00dy1968

Thank you for the review and for the constructive criticism.

We will have a meeting with all staff to discuss the noise levels as we want all our guests to be able to relax and enjoy their holiday.

Just to let you know that we do offer the African Braai in the boma on various nights. We follow a weekly schedule for catering purposes and it was unfortunate that it was not on one of the nights during your stay.

It was a pity that you did not get to see the Big 5, however we are glad you still got to see one of our resident leopards. With there being no fences between the Timbavati and the Kruger Park it is sometimes hard to view all the animals as they roam freely and they could be anywhere.

Should you ever require accommodation in the bush that is wheel chair friendly, we recommend that you book at our sister lodge Simbavati River Lodge.

Thank you for staying at our lodge and we hope you come back and visit us again.

Keep well, kind regards Nadine

We were assessing safari venues for our 2015 season.
The staff are exceptional and very good hosts. The safari excursions were very well planned and no pressure was put on the wildlife.
The meals were good and the Chef responded positively to dietary requests.
