“Phenomenal experience at Kings Camp/Waterbuck Private Camp”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

My family and I recently spent 3 magical days in the Timbavati Game Reserve, staying at the King's Camp/Waterbuck Private Camp. This was our second time visiting the lodge (1st at the camp and 2nd at the Waterbuck Private Camp) and will most definitely not be the last...at this rate, we might as well move in permanently.

During both stays we experienced incredible, friendly and genuine service levels, from the housekeepers who stood at the door to welcome you, to the Managers who asked about your day every evening, to the gourmet 3-course meals served at every occassion. To think that all this was in the middle of the bush! We had truly memorable visits every time and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!

Thank you for the memories and see you all very soon! The Agustoni Family

Room Tip: If you are travelling in a larger group, the Waterbuck Private Camp is an experience of a lifetime...

My wife and two children ages 8 and 10 and my parents enjoyed 3 great days at Waterbuck private Camp in Late March 2013. We had come all the way from Honolulu to visit the Royal Livingstone in Zambia, Ulusaba at Sabi Sands and the One and Only in CAPETOWN all 5 star locations so we had at the time of this review able comparisons. Waterbuck can easily accommodate 8 adults and 6 children and is therefore a tremendous value with 3 couples given the privacy, the service and Nikko your private Chef who serves as the Executive Chef for the entire Camp. The main home is very very tastefully furnished in antiques and antique replicas; the bedrooms are very very large and comfortable. I believe the house was staffed with about 8 individuals two maids groundskeeper and Mandla our own very special butler who is a very warm and dutiful butler. Tristen the entire camp manager was also very attentive. Our game drives in our personal vehicle with Colbert our ranger and sunny boy our tracker were excellent. Colbert is very experienced and very patient whatever we wanted to do he did for us including chasing into the bush a leopard that we saw from 3 meters away. . Overall, for an extended family especially with children this private camp makes good economic sense or for a single couple with children where there is no real budget concerns this is still a great choice with value. We will be back thank you all very very much.

My wife and I stayed here recently on our vacation to South Africa. We cannot say enough nice things about this place. They were more than welcoming when we arrived and provided top notch service throughout our stay. All the staff (front of house, dinning, housekeeping, tour guide, ranger and anyone else we came in contact with) were excellent, friendly, accommodating and went out of their way to ensure we had an amazing stay. Our tour guide and rangers were Remember and Elvis and they were excellent! They worked extremely hard to ensure we were able to see all the animals we came to see and were very knowledgeable about the wildlife and environment. Some comments: not officially in Kruger Park but are part of the greater Kruger reserve; no fences on the camp so wildlife can roam free to and from this reserve to others (including Kruger); we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite (would def recommend the room (had a private pool on the patio, outdoor shower, etc.); Kings Camp only puts 6 people per jeep so everyone has a "window" view; we got a couples massage that was out of this world; you will not leave Kings Camp hungry...ever - they feed you all day long (with open bar) and the food is excellent - def restaurant quality and way better than you would expect for being in the middle of the bush

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 10, the "honeymoon" suite. Had a private pool on the patio, and outdoor...

We stayed at Kings Camp for 4 nights and loved every aspect of it. THe managmenet, staff and facilities were just the right mix of luxury, wild bush and attentiveness. The meals were excellent and over the top, drinks were outstanding, game drives and rangers a joy, staff were there for everything but never in your face, and the rooms (the honeymoon suites were fabulous). My wife came down with a tooth infection and we didn't know what to do. They took care of it and within 1 hour of finding out about it, we were taling to a doctor and a medic delivered antibiodics 30 minutes later. We couldn't ask for more. We loved it.

Room Tip: Get the honeymoon suite - its worth it!

My husband nick and i have just returned from our holiday in s Africa and Zambia and we spent four nights at kings camp. Quite simply we fell in love with the place. The game viewing was outstanding mainly due to the wonderful ranger Cynet and tracker Sam. The staff could not do enough for you and all the staff without exception were superb. The food was good (almost too plentiful!) and all the little extras like candles, baths, drinks on return from game drives, breakfasts in the bush all made kings camp very special and somewhere we must return to.
My only slight moan and it is being very 'picky' is the sun beds by the pool are very uncomfortable. Considering the attention to detail and overall comfort and luxury of the camp it is a little strange there are no cushions on them. But overall this is a very minor thing and would not detract from the wonderful holiday experience that is kings camp.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely and spacious and comfortable

We had a great time at Kings Camp last week. This was our 1st trip there but we have visited other lodges before such as Phinda, Leopard Hills and Londolozi before. We were greeted by Tristan when we arrived who was lovely and did everything to make us feel welcome during our stay. Our sightings were good and didn't disappoint.
Kings Camp was reasonably priced and less expensive then the other camps. Overall it was a good time
