This was our first safari and we could not have asked for a better initiation than our stay at Kambaku. If you can forego air conditioning, TV, and cell phones (they have wi-fi), you will be richly rewarded with intimate five-star service, detailed accommodations, and excellent cuisine and will meet unforgettable people who now feel like close friends. Our sightings over three days included the Big 5, wild dogs, and one of only two white lions remaining in the wild. A truly transformative experience.

Wow - many thanks for your wonderful review. We are delighted that your stay with us was 'transformative' and that you adjusted to a stay without modern technology although as you say we offer free Wi-Fi during the day. We are also delighted that you enjoyed our food and detailed service.

It would be a pleasure to welcome you back one day

Kind regards

David - on behalf of the Kambaku Team

Our recent 3 days at Kambaku Lodge was a great experience. There are so many safari lodges to choose from that making the decision was time consuming. Save yourself the time and pick this one. The food is outstanding and they use different venues each night, such as under the stars overlooking the pond or by an open fire. Along with snacks early and in between meals such as during the drive, and little exercise, we were sure we had gained weight...but it was worth it. We saw all of the big 5 and more. Evan and Albie are very knowledgeable. We saw a huge heard of elephants as well as buffalo in numbers that surprised even them. Loved being able to go off road following a lion which is only allowed on private lodges not those in Kruger. The rooms are lovely and comfortable. Hard to adjust the shower water evenly , but you are in the bush! Plenty of hot water-maybe too much sometimes. Bennett and Bonghi are outstanding hosts and try to meet your every need. Fun to meet and interact with others. Usually only had 6 on each drive. Beer and water, free. Small fee for wine. Not all lodges have this. Thanks to all of the staff and the owners. Close to Eastgate airport(25-30 minutes)

We are delighted that you selected Kambaku Safari Lodge and had such a great experience. The gas geysers can be very sensitive when trying to adjust them to get the right temperature - and each geyser is slightly different - but we are reassured that you had hot water. We are delighted that we' exceeded your expectations' and would love to see you return some time in the future

I will pass on your kind comments to Bennett and Bongi as well as Evan and Albert

Kind regards

David - on behalf of the Kambaku Team

Better late than never! We stayed here just after Christmas for 3 days and it was the best 3 days of our trip!!! We are animal lovers and to see all the wonderful wildlife from dung Beatles to a heard of 30 plus elephants in an open and free space was simple amazing! Our ranger and tracker where brilliant! Even seeing the tracks of a crocodile tale in the sand, we later saw the croc chilling by the waters edge! The lodge was beautiful and food delicious! All in all a brilliant time was had!! Thank you very much! Rosie and Luke :)

The lodge is great, the staff really friendly, the room is very confortable, clean and beautiful. Good food, good white wine, just the red, as everywhere in South Africa, is served on normal temperature and as it was really hot, it was kind of hard to drink it, but it was good as well.
I was there at christmas time and they prepared a lovely christmas dinner for us, with decorations and litlle gifts. The other night we had dinner outside with bonfire, really interesting. Great experience for sure. I would definitely go back to Kambaku Safari Lodge.

We have stayed in many lodges across South Africa and in my opinion, Kambaku is the best lodge by far. in many camps, I couldn't even tell you who the manager is, but David was available and physically with the guests for the majority of our stay. He has created a wonderful friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which is all credit to him.
Our game drives were excellent with Evan and Albie, thanks chaps, much appreciated.
The food was simply amazing with top restaurant quality dishes...and everything was absolutely delicious...and thanks for the melon soup recipe:)
The rooms were fab too...clean and spacious and very comfortable, although we did spend most of our "down time" around the pool, which was so relaxing overlooking the watering hole.
I can't find any fault with the lodge, it was just brilliant and I can't wait to go back. It will definitely be my first choice for my next trip.
Thanks David and all your team for making our stay so fantastic and hope to see you again soon.

Many many thanks for this fantastic review. While we know that we are not perfect we always strive towards giving our guests the best experience possible. We know that the game drives are the main reason for going on safari but we also recognise how important all the other elements are in making your stay memorable for the right reasons! We really appreciate your comments - 'best safari lodge by far' and 'can't find any fault with the lodge' especially coming from such a seasoned traveller such as yourself.

Once again many thanks and we look forward to seeing you again and having a good laugh! I will make sure all the staff are aware of your review - they will be delighted.

Kind regards
