As a family with 2 teenage boys we booked a bungalow/cottage for 4 days and it was fantastic!! Two large bedrooms and an amazing bathroom. The bathroom was huge with a bath and an open shower that was great with 2 shower heads. Beds were very comfortable, rooms extremely clean, there is a safe, drinking water and a bar fridge. Note there is NO television but why would you need one when you can sit on your own deck and watch the wildlife wander past. We saw warthogs, impala, baboons, elephants and many species of birds from our deck.
The safaris were awesome! We saw the BIG 5 as well as many other animals and birds. Our guide Moshe and tracker Nicholas were friendly and very informative and always made sure we had a 'WOW' moment on each safari - I would have to say that everything was a 'WOW' moment. We were privileged to see a leopard up a tree with a kill - simply amazing! We saw 2 other leopards stalking ready to kill, many elephants, a hippo running and lots of other amazing things.
Food was amazing and the staff really catered for my youngest son who has food allergies - thank you! We tried all the local food including Kudu - delicious. We were lucky enough to see 3 hippos wander past whilst we ate dinner, another night we saw a honey badger during dinner. One tip would be to rug up for dinner in the winter months as it got rather cool in the evenings even though the fire was burning, remember that all meals are outside.
There is a lovely souvenir shop on site with a great variety.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
A wonderful stay and I would highly recommend Simbavati River Lodge to anyone.More
