We spent 4 days at Monwana Game Lodge in April 2014, and it completely exceeded our expectations in every regard. We found it to be friendly, exclusive, warm, and personal, with amazing food and activities. We had great game viewing with our knowledgable guide Doug, who also took us out on bush walks. Would return to Monwana in a heart beat.

Room Tip: Room 1 and 2 have great views of the waterhole.

Would recommend this lodge to anyone. The food was excellent and the welcome very personal. Our game drives were hindered by 21/2inches on rain falling on our first night but Doug our guide and Morris our tracker could not have tried any harder to find game for us with the result that we has thrilling encounters with lions and elephants in particular.I have been on many safaris but Dougs knowledge and passion for the wildlife was great and greatly enhanced our experience.
Emma the hostess, could not do enough for us.

We loved the Monwana Game Lodge. It was beautiful, peaceful and the staff is fantastic. Every game drive with the ranger and tracker encountered gorgeous animals. The food and accommodations are wonderful and we were treated as honored guests with lots of special touches. Thanks to Emma, Doug and Morris for making this a perfect place for a safari.

As our first Safari, we wanted to make the experience unbelievable. And staying in Monwana exceeded our expectations. It was a recommendation of a friend and what he said did Monwana no justice. It is an unbelievable place. The time there was just amazing.
Every safari was amazing. We saw every creature we wanted to, and the ranger went out of their way to make sure we did.
The food is of the highest quality and the wines and drink selection, just incredible.
The weather made it possible to relax and enjoy the pool.

We stayed at 3 safari lodges and this was the one we enjoyed most. The ranger and hostess were very professional and friendly. The food was excellent and the accommodation was great. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it was fantastic ( it's over 30 years since our honeymoon but we enjoyed the special treatment). The game drives were great, the tracker was also very friendly and we saw everything that was to be offered on this game park. We also enjoyed time by the pool where you could forget you were in the bush and could be at any posh boutique hotel. All the amenities were very close and the grounds were very well kept. We were there in February and the grass in the bush is quite high so any small mammals are difficult to spot.

Room Tip: Pay for the honeymoon suite if available it's just by the waterhole with great views of the anim...

Our experience at Monwana made our first trip to South Africa and Africa unforgettable - it was literally more than I ever expected. Mich, Charl, Morris and the rest of the staff made our stay one of a kind. The lodge was so clean, our room superb and the food outstanding. The game drives were amazing and exhilarating to say the least.

I assure you this, you will not leave disappointed. The lodge is quaint with a very warm feeling. The pool relaxing to sit by during the day. I am a big planner and wanted our trip to be perfect, it was our honeymoon. I searched high and low and did so much research, and in the end, we were 100% pleased with Monwana. Can't wait to return with friends and family. Enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: We had the far room (maybe the honeymoon suite?). They planned a private dinner for us on our deck o...

We could literally go on all day about how spectacular this place is. Never written before on Tripadvisor, but couldn't wait to log on and try to let the world know how highly we think of this place. Perfect down to the last detail, we've stayed in some of the world's nicest hotels, and this little lodge blew them all away. The suits are enormous, with spectacular design, open beam, high ceilings and thatched roofs. Three sinks, wifi, canopy beds, and a rain shower overlooking the bush. They serve the most amazing food you could find anywhere on earth, with the most down to earth, perfect service you can only receive from genuinely great people. Champagne chilled in our room upon arrival, a private candle lit dinner (and bath) our second night, and the perfect local wine list to boot. The second we arrived we wished we had booked 3 weeks there instead of 3 days. They could easily charge 5-10 times the $ for this incredible place. (But let's not give them any ideas!) Beautiful sundowners every evening in the middle of the bush, and by far the most amazing game viewing anywhere on the planet. Having been on safaris before, I was shocked by the expertise of both Morris and Jacques when it came to tracking any animal we wanted to see through the dense foliage, as well as their knowledge of any and all species. We felt safe with them literally less than 10 feet from ALL of the Big Five, in their gorgeous OPEN Land Rover Safari Jeep. I cannot possibly find enough superlatives to adequately describe what an amazing time we had here, stop what you're doing, drop everything, and book a trip here NOW. A HUGE thank you to Emma, Jacques, Morris, and Valentine!!! We hope to see you again someday!
