Amazing place! We loved it!
Food/staff: they really spoil us, for sure that was the best “food and staff” place that we have ever stayed!
Accommodation: really nice, brand new! Definitely we would recommend it! We´d a barbecue under the stars, amazing... an experience that we'll never forget!
The tents are not just a tent, but a 5* accommodation tent!
The only problem was that our ranger was ok, nothing special… she was nice but she couldn´t find the animals without the tracker and sometimes the tracker just disappeared… they told us that he was looking for the leopards but he never came back, just disappeared! This happened twice, very strange, but at least we were able to see the wild dogs - which I loved - and a pride with 27 lions! amazing... I strongly recommend this place.

Room Tip: All of them are great!

We recently returned from a trip to South Africa and our trip included &Beyond Dulini and then Ngala tented. We had an amazing time at Ngala thanks to Presents, Richard, David and our Game Ranger Dylan and Tracker Adam. Everything was amazing from our "fancy" tent to the game drives. &Beyond knows how to make guests feel special and pay attention to every detail. Those that think staying in a tent may be "roughing it" have no idea what's in store for them at Ngala. The accommodations were most luxurious. The food (Oscar is an amazing chef) was as well. We enjoyed meeting the family at Ngala and particularly enjoyed our game drives with Dylan and Adam who proved to be extremely knowledgeable about everything. Our games drives were so exciting seeing everything we could have hoped for and even enjoying a lesson about the southern hemisphere contellations! Thanks Ngala for making our stay so memorable!

thsi was the 2nd stop on our honeymoon, and how special it was. we spent 3 nights in the most amazing "tent" you have ever seen. the pictures on here just don't quite do it justice.
absolutely loved the dining area in the main tent. here we watched elephants from afar and monkeys at our table as they tried to get their hands on some of the amazing food.
safari did not quite compare to our experience at exeter river lodge in kruger, but it was still pretty great.

This was part of an itinerary of our S.A. trip to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday.

This place gave the idea of camping a whole new level - mini-split a/c, private outdoor shower, separate bath, even his and hers wardrobe areas.

The luxury level may not match other safaris but I am super glad that we got the chance to stay here on our S.A. trip. After all, how often do we go camping?

Personally I found the tent spacious, comfortable and intimate at the same time. Yes, you may be able to hear the animals outside or "in the next tent" but hey... that's part of the fun. ; )

We had Mark as our guide. He was amazingly knowledgeable about animals. He could go on & on about the elephants that we learned a great deal but were never bored. With him we got to see all the big 5s. Adam was the tracker. He was spot on with the leopards - they blend in so well with the grass that it must take years of experience to spot one on the road while the jeep is moving fast. We even saw a group of wild dogs hunt on our first safari.

After here, we took a small plane to our next safari in Lion Sands. I would highly recommend this flight because it gave a different perspective of the water holes with buffalos and elephants gathered around them.

Again we want to thank Heritage Tours in NY who helped us plan this memorable trip. They did it again! Whenever my partner and I had saved up and felt like a splurge, we had always called them. Our Turkey & Morocco trips with Heritage Tours were as memorable as this amazing S.A. experience.

Room Tip: Since we were a group, we had 5 of out of the 6 tents. They were all equal inside and out. So not sure if any of them is more superior.

I'll start by saying that there are some things about Ngala that are terrific: The camp is well-run and efficient, headed by the effervescent Presence. The chef, Oscar, is truly talented and produced some amazing food, worthy of any fine restaurant. The tents are spacious and the lodge staff in the restaurant and on the grounds are terrific. Note: Despite fan and a small aircon unit, the tents will be hot when it is very hot outside.

There are some things for me that missed. The decision that the tents face inward, onto a lawn area, seemed like a strange choice to me. It was even stranger that someone decided that there should even be a lawn which requires a lot of care and watering in the sweltering heat. Strangely unnatural choice in such a natural place. This placement and the fencing necessitated by the lawn cuts down on much of the incidental viewing of wildlife that can happen from one's room. When in the bush, I want to see the wildness every moment I can, so this changed the ambience of the place for me.

Unfortunately, we had rather lackluster game drives while at Ngala. No fault of the Ngala staff, as that is the luck of the draw sometimes. However, the drives were very low-energy and my suspicions that the tracker was a bit disengaged was confirmed when he waved the torch during the night drives while looking in the opposite direction! Ah well... On the plus side, the reserve is not overcrowded with cars so drives are serene.

Overall, Ngala is a pleasant and well-run lodge.
