“An amazing, unforgettable experience. Stay here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2011

We stayed at Pondoro for 4 nights during our honeymoon and had an amazing time. The game viewing was great- saw the Big 5 and much more. The staff were fantastic -so attentive and friendly. There is a maximum of 14 guests at one time so the service was also very personal. The food was something else! Every meal was gourmet and we tried game meat too. The rooms were beautiful with a claw-foot bath outside on the deck of our room (full privacy). Highly recommended!!

We stayed at Pondoro in September of 2010.

We had two lodges and fell in love with the staff. From the moment we arrived, we met America, who was the kindest and sweetest person with the strongest arms we have ever known! Eric was our tracker and learned so much from him. It did not matter if it was early, early in the morning or late at night, he always had a wonderful smile. He was brilliant! The animals that we encountered were a dream come true.

The ladies in the dining area were superb!!!! Their smiles gave us so much reason to smile even more. They are one of the reasons why we will return. Please tell them that they are gems!!

The spa treatment we had made each one of us feel like we had gone to heaven. I actually fell asleep and that has never happened to me when I have had massages.

The lodges are exquisite, we stayed in the Water Lodge, and our friend in the Buffalo. They were so roomy, and the decor was stunning. We loved the sounds of the animals in the middle of the night.

This was an unforgettable experience we will have to do again!

Thank You Pondoro for having given to us

When we were leaving, we felt so sad as we wished to take everyone home with us.

Excellent team of staff, who are helpful, polite and well trained. Warm welcome and send off.
The lodges are beautifully set and the restuarant overlooking the Oliphants river is excellent.
The game can be scarce (i.e. not quite as good as some of the bigger parks) but we saw most things in 3 days of game drives, including Rhino, Cheetah, Lions and Elephants.

Pondoro Game Lodge is a sophisticated and intimate retreat, excellent place for relaxing and game viewing. This is not a hotel, meaning that you will not have a 24 hours service. There might be moments even during the day when you don´t find anyone at the reception, but don´t worry, everything you need is taking very well into consideration. This is luxus: the lodge is small enough for you to feel the peace under the roof of centuries old jackalberry trees.

The daily program is: wake up knock at 5 am, depart on morning safari at 5.30, breakfast at 9 am. Then do what you want: go back to sleep or read something (bring books or something else with you; there is no tv). In the afternoon: lunch at 1 pm, coffee at 3.30, departure on evening safari at 4 pm and dinner at 8 pm. This is great - you don´t have to worry about anything. The food is above very good, it is excellent, thanks for Lize Mason-Gordon. Robby tells you everything about the life and wildlife in Africa. But it is good to remember: this is not a zoo. The nature allows you to see what it wants. So be ready to explore the bushes - probably you`ll find yourself in 3-4 days. Highly recommended.

There´s not much more to say- we agree to previous reviews of this fantastic oasis! Beautifully located by the olifant river, you couldn´t get closer to the wildlife experience. Friendly staff, fantastic decorated and designed houses (we stayed in Water), and very professional rangers. The food was fantastic too! Nothing to remark on- we´ll be back!

I was there 15 days ago for 4 days during my honeymoon. We were delighted to see how a hotel of the best quality was constructed in the middle of a reserve. Staff was super friendly to the point of keeping us amazed. Food was something else: we had impala, ostridge and an amazing rack of lamb in the three nights stay. The room was super clean and beautiful, we enjoyed the tub, living room and else. Definitely a place we would like to go back to in the future even though the distance from Mexico is quite considerable.
