A hidden gem. A wonderful lodge in harmony with the Bush. The staff was incredible. The food delicious. The rooms just wonderful. We arrived in the afternoon and they had a delicious lunch waiting for us. Then wisked us away on an open top landrover for a safari. We saw lions, zebras, antelope, rhinos, giraffes all that first night. Amazing how close you can get. Because it is a private park we were not limited to a covered vehicle and staying on the main dirt roads. Our tracker and guide brought us in close. Other days we saw hippos, monkeys, wild cats and beautiful birds. The staff always has surprises. One night we had cocktails on the edge of a large waterhole with bathing hippos as the sun set in a gorgeous orange sherbert -- and an elephant by our side. The facial at the spa was delectable with the Africology products Highly recommend.

My husband and I Just spent two nights at Tintswalo. The lodge and facilities are totally five star but the most incredible memory is the game viewing with Duncan our guide and Simon our tracker. We saw over 30 different animals including 8 lion cubs with 3 lionesses and 2 male lions. We saw numerous elephants including from our lunch patio. We followed a leopard for over half an hour within meters of the vehicle in full day light. The only thing which wasn't up to scratch was the food particularly the lunches. The lodge is aware of this and is dealing with this. The holiday was very good value for money and I would definitely highly recommend a visit. The staff are very professional and try to meet your every need.

Room tip: All rooms are very private with your own pool and lounge.

Our group spent 4 days and loved every minute of the luxury treatment and sightings of lions within 4 ft of our vehicle, elephants surrounding us and an education regarding animal behavior. We saw a memorable and heartwarming reunion of 2 male brother lions who allowed us observe them for over an hour. No crowds and you can stay with the animals as long as you and they want to. Meals, drinks and coffee in the bush were very nice touches. The rooms are luxurious, roomy and intimate at the same time. Strongly recommend it.

Room tip: room in the center of the complex will be closer to the area where the elephants come in to the lodge. you can watch them from your private deck and pool.

We were lucky enough to stay at the beautiful Manor House at Tintswalo to celebrate my mother-in-law's 70th birthday. We have experienced many game farms across Southern Africa, but in terms of amazing friendliness and attention to detail of the staff, breath taking animal sightings, isolation, tranquillity and luxurious comfort, nothing has come close. We were warmly welcomed by wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly staff and immediately felt as if nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic Orlando (our own personal butler!!) learned our names and our favourite drinks choices very quickly and was both attentive and unobtrusive at the same time. Patrick, our ranger for our stay, was by far the best that we have ever had - utterly knowledgeable, funny, friendly and above all as enthusiastic as we were about the animals. He tried so hard to find leopard for us on our last day (unfortunately we didn't succeed) but the thrill of looking was almost as exciting. Jack, our spotter was outstanding, although we were unnecessarily worried for him as he set off into the veld tracking leopard without a radio or a gun..we were all relieved when, after about 45 minutes, we were reunited. In the five years that we lived in South Africa (14 years ago), we have never seen such an abundance of quality animal encounters, coupled with a virtually complete isolation (we only saw one vehicle from another lodge in the whole time that we were there). Marissa was fantastic - unfortunately we arrived 24 hours later than expected due to a problem with our flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit; she immediately did everything she could to offer us another night, although unfortunately flights did not allow us to do this.
We stayed with 6 adults and 2 children, so The Manor House was absolutely ideal, with our own fenced garden, lovely pool where the children could splash around with no worries about noise, and a delicious gin and tonic for the adults! It was an added pleasure that Patrick (our ranger) joined us for several meals, chatting about the animals and laughing his amazing laugh. Our food was delicious (thank you Kate, the chef) and timed beautifully to fit in with us. We are ordinary people (not rich like some of the people reviewing!) and saved up for a long time for this trip. I had high hopes for this part of our holiday but they were exceeded by a mile..we absolutely loved every second (even the 5am starts) as we were treated to home made muffins and biscuits, coffee, hot chocolate, warm blankets and hot water bottles in the land rover in the chilly, dark mornings.
I don't think four stars and some of the website photos do The Manor House justice - in my opinion this is heaven on earth.

Our family just returned from a four night trip to Tintswalo. It was
AMAZING. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Presidential Suite,
a two bedroom gorgeous suite with its own plunge pool and an enormous
back deck. It had claw foot tub, great linens and a full kitchen completely stocked.
I loved the attention to detail like the notes left bedside at night for our boys, and my husband loved the privacy. Julie, the housekeeper was lovely - she attended to the room
at least twice a day during our stay.
One night after a long game drive, we returned to rooms with hot baths prepared and rose petals strewn about. During our time there, we saw an elephant lumber by, an extended family
of monkeys play in the trees and on our roof, and any number of exquisite birds take
roost just outside the windows. Our two sons, ages 13 and 16 loved the
twice daily game drives. Our driver Darren was knowledgable and adventurous. We saw
four of the big five, learned about the constellations and got to see the South African wilderness in its finest. He handled what threatened to be a charging elephant with great finesse.
One evening at dusk, he and our guide Eric (our kids favorite) set up a table of appetizers and drinks directly in front of area where two male hippos were playing. Another time we stopped our vehicle under a magnificent canopy of stars to listen to the night sounds. At the lodge, Johan the chef serves delicious meals three times each day. Local, fresh, organic ingredients all thoughtfully prepared. Whether it was dinner in the wine cellar, an BBQ outside surrounded by torch light, or an elegant lunch on the deck watching grazing wildebees, the dining staff made sure that each meal was an experience. Edwin, who walked us out to suite each day was such a gentleman. You never know what might be near - in fact, the last day I chased
four large male baboons off our deck! We met a diverse group of other guests, all
in agreement that Tinswalo is phenomenal whether you a couple, family or traveling alone.
You will not regret staying at this magnificent lodge. From the minute Ronel and others greet you, you know that they are determined to anticipate every need. If you are planning a trip to South Africa, do not miss Tinswalo.

Incredible setting, great food, friendly staff and most luxurious accommodation. Tintswalo really has it all! Skip the commercialized and overcrowded Kruger Park and Sabi Sands and escape to this piece of paradise. You will not be disappointed and you'll walk away with new friends. Everything is just perfect!
