Thank you Marc, James, Robert, Tresta and everyone else at Londolozi Tree Camp for making the start of our African adventure and honeymoon so amazing.
From the moment we arrived at Londolozi we felt at home. The camp exudes a perfect balance of luxury and comfort with a complete lack of pretension and a genuine sense of relaxation. This is evident in the furnishings, the food, the transport and the people - everyone is so friendly and kind. The main room is beautiful - straight out of the pages of Vogue, but you know you can sit on the couch (you could even put your feet up if you wanted to!)
But the main reason you go to Londolozi is for the animals and this was the highlight for us. Within five minutes of landing at the airstrip we were up close and personal with a stunning leopard, who sat down in front of our car and bathed herself before setting off hunting. We saw another two leopards mating that evening. In all, we saw 5 leopards in our 2 days there as well as countless other beautiful animals - waking up to and then finding a lion contact calling to his brothers, an elephant sauntering right past the car, a den of hyena cubs of all ages, a mother rhino and her baby, a herd of buffalo grazing all around us, and even a leopard interrupting our sun downers!
With the benefit of hindsight I was so pleased we went to Londolozi at the beginning of our trip. Initially I had wanted to save the best for last, but as it happened, we had the best possible introduction to Africa and then the pressure was off. Everything we saw after Londolozi just felt like a bonus. We had three other 5-star safaris during our trip and while all were enjoyable, none came close to the complete package that is Londolozi.
As the plane took off I couldn't hold back the tears. There's just something about Londolozi. It's a truly special place and now holds a permanent place in our hearts. We will be back.
