Nice, nice, nice. Felt like home away from home. Hosts were great, the bed was comfortable, cabin was SO clean. It was the nicest place we ever stayed. Felt like we could have moved in. Highly recommended!

Thanks TripAdvisor! Shadow Mountain Lodge is everything the reviews here promise and more. The cabins are beautifully constructed & furnished and immaculately clean. The grounds are picture perfect, and the location couldn’t be beat—in the pines but easily accessible to shopping and dining. And we got a great deal on the May/June special, $95 for a cabin. I can only second the glowing reports others have posted here, except that the outdoor hot tub in the gazebo is now in full working order and cell phone service is not a problem. This is a real find. Truly the perfect getaway.

We spent Memorial Day weekend relaxing in Ruidoso, NM at Shadow Mountain Lodge that we selected based on Trip Advisor reviews. Cabin # 304, fairly new [built in 2003] was well designed for a couple for comfort and function--and was extremely well serivced--very clean!
Doug McAlister, Property Manager, is very knowledgeable about Ruidoso and eager to offer his personal evaluations, opinions and recommendations on restaurants, "life in Ruidoso", real estate and activities, etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed & recommend the Pena Cafe and Cornerstone Cafe for breakfast and lunch and Landlocked for early informal dinner.
As Trip Advisor member for 7 months, this selection [Shadow Mountain Lodge] is our fourth selection based on Trip Advisor reviews and we could not be more pleased with each selection--We'll certainly continue to rely on Trip Advisor evaluations. And we'll be returning to Shadow Mountain Lodge soon!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while traveling around New Mexico. I decided to reserve a room here based on the excellent reviews. I am very glad we chose this lodge as it is an excellent stay and one of the best places we stayed during our 12-day trip. The lodge is in a beautiful garden setting with a long porch where we could relax, watch the birds and enjoy the forest scenery and fresh air. I am an avid bird watcher and the lodge has hummingbird feeders, bird houses and seed feeders throughout the property. The room was quite lovely and large. It included a queen bed, fireplace (we did not use), small kitchen, kitchen table and couch. It was so comfortable to relax in the room. The owner is very pleasant and check in was easy. The parking lot was not far from the room. The lodge is located quite close to shopping, restaurants, etc. in Ruidoso, although most people would probably want to drive into town. Ruidoso is a lovely town and we enjoyed our stay here. We drove the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway with stops at the Hubbard Museum, historic town of Lincoln and Smoky Bear Park. All of these stops were very informative, interesting and worth a visit.

Would highly recommend staying here. We will certainly stay again if ever in the Ruidoso area.

We stayed in one of the four seperate cabins which are located at the head of a canyon. The cabins provide a measure of privacy and are the hot setup for a romantic getaway. They are practicle as they are equiped to allow a couple to eat in if they desire. At this time of year the temperatures allow for open windows so one does pick up some noise, esp. at night with barking dogs echoing down the canyon. A good location, a good value and a gas fireplace to set the mood.

Room Tip: Go for the cabins for the fresh air
