“Disappointed”
Reviewed August 1, 2008

Although the resort advertises that it is rustic and that patrons should not expect luxury, I believe that this is misleading. The place is just plain shabby and in need of updating. The physical location is lovely sitting on top of a mountain. But there is a tremendous amount of deferred maintenance that is in need of occuring. Our dishwasher was not bolted down, countertops had burn marks, pieces inside the old refrigerator were broken, wood steps leading to the upper levels were so water saturated as to be of concern for breakage. The entrance to the resort was falling apart. We stayed two nights and left preferring to pay the money to stay in other hotels. The one nice note was the staff who were lovely.

We stayed at the HIgh Sierra Resort in March '07. We had a 2 bd - 2 ba. unit. The first though as we drove to the top of Camalot Mountain was, "WOW, this place has got to have great views!" We passed alot of deer just grazing in the forest on the drive up. It was so cool, I even got out of the car and took pictures, they just looked at me like "another dumb tourist :)" (my son in law even saw a bear cub!) So, back to the views, well they were as spectacular as we expected! The carpenter song "I'm on top of the world, lookin' down on creation" came to mind.
The resort is neat, clean and the staff very kind, friendly and helpful. Our unit had 2 bedrooms, I king w/ it's own bath & the other had 2 twin beds, full kitchen and large living room with sofa bed, there is a really nice deck w/ chairs, to enjoy the view. The living room had two floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the view from the inside. There was a indoor pool (not large but OK) pool table and reading room in the lodge. The area attractions are, horse track, fishing, skiing & casinos. We used our RCI timeshare exchange, so I don't know what the nightly rates are.
