We are local and have a lot of out of town friends to accommodate. During one of these visits, we stopped in to the restaurant with hopes of having a nice dinner. The experience was fabulous with superior quality over the other guys. The steaks are choice and 100%, grass fed, Angus beef according to our server and the chef. In my opinion, the flavor, tenderness and preparation are unmatched in our area. No one seems to have fresh seafood but we found it there and it was prepared perfectly. The scallops were amazing. The crab cakes and Caesar salad rival those found in some of the more posh restaurants in cities with a foody atmospheres. To the owners, we say great job and keep up the good work. What a great edition to Ruidoso.

The service was good, the food quality decent, but not quite hot when it made it to table. The prices and the feel of the place is trying to be high quality, just a little short of reaching that goal.

This place is way over priced. They want to price the steaks and talk them up like a Del Friscos steak, but kbobs canoffer the same in this town. Asparagus looked like a small long noodle. Crabcakes tasted like salmon from a can. Lounge looks like a hippie dope den. And please tell the bus boy what water and beer look like. Dined at this fine place 10-26-12. Odds are 10-26-13 the owner in back cooking at allsups.

We had a nice dinner on a Monday evening. Service was good; not off the chart, but more than adequate. Restaurant has a separate bar area. Dining tables have black table clothes with white linen napkins; nice touch that adds to the atmosphere. Rolls and butter served with menu; rolls were slightly warm, soft on the inside but hard on top and bottom. Shrimp cocktail ($8) was not "jumbo" as listed in the menu; more like medium/large. Cocktail sauce was seasoned tomato paste; not very appealing, but the shrimp was fine. Salad was attractive mix of very fresh lettuces, tomato, cucumber and shredded carrot; homemade dressing had no flavor -- tried citrus vinaigrette and raspberry vinaigrette; both were too much oil and no taste. Prime rib and crab legs ($32) were fine - prime rib cooked as ordered; large serving without too much fat. Served with au jus and horseradish sauce that also had too much cream and not enough horsey flavor. Served with 2 long crab legs that were well steamed. Menu said meals were served with salad and two sides but are served with 1 side. I love creamed spinach, but didn't enjoy their version -- very creamy (like the frozen package kind), and had bacon in it. Love bacon, but not in creamed spinach. Bananas foster ($8) is not the traditional dish, but cream stuffed crepes with the sauteed bananas and some type of sauce; good but again -- not spectacular. May try again if in the mood for a nice dinner, as most cafe's in the area are completely casual, but you're truly paying for the atmosphere at The Ranchers.
