We spent 2 nights at Chitwa where Claudia and Leon are the joint managers. You are met on arrival, in our case by Claudia, and all is explained, both spent 10 years working for SA airline and later several years in Indonesia. They provide a superb level of service and you get to know them well at pre dinner drinks. Nothing is too much trouble. Our bags were "lost" by Federal Air and besides helping us with toiletries, Leon took it has his personal mission to track the bags down and get them to us. Good tip if flying Fed Air check that bags are on plane with you.

Our Ranger Neil and his tracker Rodney were both excellent. Great knowledge and made the vist all the more interesting - the big 5 were all seen !

I would highly recommend Chitwa !!

We heard about Chitwa Chitwa from friends that reserved a South Africa package with Kanyezi Safaris. Everything at Chitwa Chitwa more than met our expectations. We enjoyed a flawless experience seeing new and varied assortments of the greatest wildlife on Earth everyday. On our first game drive the afternoon we arrrived we saw lions, buffalo, elephants, and a leopard. Our ranger Surprise was kind and saw to all our needs including the perfect photo options we needed to get amazing shots. The suites are decorated in a beautiful and eclectic theme, modern yet very safari cool. They are luxurious and spacious each with its own pool and a stunning deck on the lake to relax and watch animals coming down to drink during relaxing parts of the day when we were not out on safari. Our friend's suite was equally as lovely. All of the staff provided excellent service especially Dinho the head barman. He met us when we first arrived & always was so respectful. He knew every guest by name. We had been on safari once before but this far exceeded our earlier experience. If you have a chance to come to this extraordinary spot you will never be disappointed and keep memories of the experience forever.

The lodge is unique, from the moment you get there they make you feel as you are arriving to your own house, all the staff is great from the ranger and spotter, to the housekeeping, they will all make feel at home. The food was great and one night we experienced the local meal buffet, it is a must, try everything you wont regret it. The Sabi Sands are great to see al the big 5, in just two night we saw everything but it wasn't enough, we would have stayed there for at least one more night, we split our time between two lodger, two and three nights, but I would do at least 3 nights in each, the only good thing about staying two days is that we want to return.

Room Tip: Ask for room 12.

What sets Chitwa Chitwa apart from other luxury lodges is that it is on a reservoir teeming with hippos. It was amazing to be surrounded by these animals and hear their chorus of sounds as well as other animals that happened by for a drink. The staff, food and accommodations were amazing. Our ranger (Hali) and tracker (Moses) particularly made our trip memorable. We did more than just view the animals. We were constantly engaged in conversation and were able to ask loads of questions. I was traveling with my sister-in-law and we will definitely be bringing our families back.

A wonderful trip from start to finish,,,,,lodge was breathtaking, sophisticated, understated, spacious, calm....wonderful location on a dam with hippos making all sorts of noises all day long! Staff were lovely...friendly, efficient, always willing to spend time with us. The guides and trackers were amazing and worked so hard to ensure that we had the most fantastic game drives. Their driving gives "off road" a completely different meaning...and we saw everything we could gave hoped for. We went on the guided walks, which were fascinating, giving an insight into local tradition and culture. Food was wonderful, and plentiful, and the dining areas and the bar were lovely areas to gather for a drink and meet other guests.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Charlsey Suite which was two enormous bedrooms linked by a cosy sitting room....and...

Nice lodge at a river dam with hippos and crocs. Transfer from airstrip to lodge around 30-40 min. Very friendly reception and management by Claudia and Leon. Suite was very spacious - open suite without doors to bathroom - but showing wear and tear. Price/value equation not optimal. For the charged room rates even after discounting food and drives you can get top of the line 5*L rooms in New York. Drives were very good having been able to see the big 5 plus several additional animals within 3 drives. Food - lunch and dinner - good but not as exceptional as stated. Breakfast standard. Would recommend stays of 2-3 nights and taking 4 drives. Staff very friendly addressing you personally by your name.

Room Tip: Ask for suites with deck at the lakeside, near the main building.
