“the best place we have ever stayed at!”
Reviewed September 18, 2007

We stayed at Dulini in August 2007 for 4 nights after having stayed at Jocks safari lodge in the Kruger for 3 nights and having safari in Kenya a few years ago. It was without question the best accommodation I have stayed in, probably anywhere in the world.

The attention to detail and service were absolutly fantastic. We were a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters. I cant really begin to describe it but the cottages were gorgeous, very spacious and tastefully decorated with huge bathrooms etc over looking the river bed. The service was outstanding with Freddy our butler being really sweet and attentive at all times. The food was excellent with lunches out in the grounds with animals around you being a real highlight . The games drives were brilliant with our driver and tracker being absolutly committed and informative. We saw Leopard everytime we went out, lioness and cubs, hyenas eating a rhino (yuck!), pride of 4 male lions and much more.

Really if you get the chance and can warrant the expense go there. The grounds tracked are largely the same as Ulasaba and some of the other camps that are more expensive but I am not sure how your experience could be enhanced anywhere else.

Exeter Dulini doesn't have the brand name that some of the other top-of-the-line safaris do, but from what we saw, it's just as luxurious and wonderful. This is the 6-star safari experience that you've read about in all the travel magazines.

Our eyes popped out of our head when we entered our enormous cottage - living area, bedroom, massive bathroom, deck, it went on and on. The comfort was out of this world. Plus the nice touches like the bath poured for us with flowers while we were out on a game drive.

This was our honeymoon and Dulini was the last stop on our trip - and we ended in style. Not to mention, some amazing animal sightings (including a lion that took us by surprise...don't worry, we were safe).

A wonderful experience.

I stayed at Dulini with my wife (as part of our honeymoon) for 3 nights and we had an amazing time there (please also read my relevant review). I should note that it was our first safari, but it definetely won't be our last.

Before booking at Dulini I had done a very thorough search in luxury safaris and had ended up that for beginners such as ourselves the Sabi Sands Game Reserve offered exactly what we were looking for. I then went through most of the Game Lodges there and ended up between Dulini, Simbambili and Londolozi. Finally I made the bookings with the help of a South African travel agent (Alison of Bushbreaks Reservations) that helped me also with the transfers and a number of other details.

As far as Dulini is concerned:
- Room: 80(;)sq.m. of luxurious & tasteful modern african-colonial decoration, plunge pools, great shower/bath viewing the savanah/river (no water though) on the opposite side, big balcony, the sides of all rooms overlooking the river through glass windows, full privacy ( 6 rooms in total, no room looking towards an other room)
- Safari Drives: 2 open land rovers with 6 seats (the smallest number you can get from what I've seen), great ranger & tracker (Hi Keri-Ann and Lucky!) helping us to spot allmost all kinds of animals plus some interesting safari experiences (coalition of 4 male lions - roaring at the same time!, leopard unsuccessful impala hunt, herd of elephants mud bathing).
- Service: Great service from our buttler Freddy and the rest of the staff, room being cleaned 3 times a day, guard for security etc (I think a total of 35 staff for maximum 12 guests).
- Food: Gourmet meals (& plenty of food) prepared by their 2-3 chefs. Didn't taste anything similar in the 4 days that followed at Cape Town.
- Price: Expensive, but worth every rand!

I hope I haven't forgotten anything,

Kostis
