Spent two nights here in April 2008.
Whilst we saw all the animals there was to see, this lodge does not feel as authentic as some of the other lodges that i've stayed at before. (Namely Honeyguide and Drifters)

The accom. is great for what it is, but the large brick houses felt a bit strange after a week in thatched tents.

The animal sightings were very good as well, but having just come from two game reserves where off-road driving is disallowed - this Sabi Sand just felt wrong.

Hence the title, Idube is excellent for what it is, and had if you only have 3 days for the safari - this is the place to guarantee an excellent experience. However coming from a week in the other lodges - this felt a little "staged"

We stayed at Idube for just 2 nights, it was fantastic. From the first game drive we saw animals up close! Thank you to Andries our guide who was very passionate about the animals and full of information.
We travelled in S Africa for 4 weeks, but this was the only place I was sorry to leave.
The moment you arrive you are looked after, everything is explained upon arrival and the staff go out of their way to look after their guests.
The accommodation is wonderful...there are outdoor showers (there is also an indoor bath) as long as you pick your time to have the shower...and in August, afternoon, after the walk, was the best time to enjoy the great outdoors.
The meals served are absolutely wonderful 5 star

I spent 3 nights at Idube Lodge. What an amazing experience!!

The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was excellent, even catering for someone who does not eat red meat. Above all the game drives were amazing. We saw the Big 5 many times, incredibly close up and personal. Rangers made sure that sightings are not overcrowded with vehicles. Lots of baby animals too, from elephants to hyena and waterbuck. Our ranger, Rob, was great, very knowledgeable, always ready and willing to answer questions. He always made sure we were comfortable including providing blankets and hot water bottles in the chilly weather!

Even as a South African who is used to the bush I was amazed and thoroughly impressed with Idube! Absolutely phenomenal! I suggest investing in a good quality camera to make the best of these photo opportunities.

We spent 3 nights at Idube. It was an amazing experience in the middle of our honeymoon. Service is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are simple, but cosy and clean. Food was excellent.
The game drivers were amazing; we saw the big five and more (cheetahs, eagles, among others). Among the best things we saw the lions hunting and the leopards carrying their prey to the top of the trees. Our ranger was very nice explaining everything and the morning walks (you have a walk after breakfast between the two drivers) were very interesting.
It is an amazing value for money, and you don’t need more luxury in the middle of a safari...even if you were doing a luxury honeymoon as we were doing (stayed in super luxurious hotels in Cape Town and in Mauritius).
