My stay at Tydon was by far the highlight of my South Africa trip. The experience Tydon provides is simply uncomparable to any of the other operators. You literally feel like you are staying with friends and family. The comfortable accommadations, small groups, home cooked meals, and personal attention are something you will only get from them. I will be back. If you are going on safari this is the camp and operator to do it with. No doubt about it.

We were very happy with our stay at Tydon Safari camp. The guides were very relaxed, helpful and knowledgeable. Special thanks to Stephen who was with us on all our game drives! We opted for the 3 night stay, with drives in both Sabi Sands and Krueger. This was a perfect mix for us, Krueger is of a grander scale, but in Sabi you get closer to the animals. The tent was large and had all comforts, more like a nice hotel room really. The beds were a bit on the hard side maybe. The food and service was excellent with much attention to detail. Transfer from Johannesburg was included, which is a great plus. The price for the stay was very reasonable and I can't really see why you should go for anything more expensive, unless you really want to stay at a spa and not a camp. The camp is bordering to, but not inside a game reserve which was perfectly fine with me, It was very quiet at night, except for occasional animal sounds. There are of course also camps inside the reserves (Tydon has one) if you want even closer contact with the animals.

At the time for our stay it was a little slow, and for most part of the stay we were the only guests, which was both good and bad. It meant that we got terrific service, but it is also fun to have other guests to share the experience with.

There were almost no mosquitos at the camp, or at the drives which we appreciated since we had not bothered with any profylaxis. According to the guides there was no Malaria infestation in the area, but it still was good not to get any bites.

All in all, we got to see every animal we wanted, took a lot of photos and had a very good time. The weather was also good, mostly not crazy hot, and we had very little rain.

Thanks Stephen, Lyam, Debbie and the rest of the staff for a wonderful experience!

Room Tip: All tents seem good to me. There is one that is close to the pool pump station that I would avoid since you can here that noise slightly.

We were booked here as part of a tour package for a 3 day visit to Sabi Sands and Kruger Park - our first safari experience and we couldn't have been in better hands.

Gavin and his family truly make you feel at home. Their enthusiasm for their property and South Africa is infectious. Personally I was under the weather and worn out from a hectic tour so having a little down time to relax between safari rides on the property was just what I needed. The tents are clean and comfortable, sitting poolside (even in the rainy season) was pleasant and the food was absolutely delicious at all times.

The boys learning the family trade are fun to tour with and the other guides were so knowledgable and caring - they truly made us feel safe and excited about the safaris.

To top it all off, you can't get closer to the park than Tydon, it's just a few minutes ride to Kruger and of course it's on the Sabi Sands property so you can come and go - breaking up your safari and have some time back at the camp.

We were told to not get our hopes up but within 24 hours we spotted all 5 of the Big 5!

And thank you to our walking guide, Steve, who made certain we were safe and although he had a bit of fun with us and seeing some warthogs, he was entirely professional and kept us safe from the lions we managed to walk by in the woods.

Room Tip: It's a small place, any tent is a good tent! Have a camera with a good zoom or binoculars with you if you can.

My wife and I spent 4 days at Tydon Bush camp on our Honeymoon. We were only the second people to stay at the bush camp on the second night of opening and it was amazing. It is cosy and private and very intimate. The tents are luxurious and the food was excellent but the real reason for going is obviously the Safari. Debbie was fantastic as our guide and you could see how passionate she is about the animals. We got to see everything and we got up close to some of the most magnificent creatures in existence. It truly was a trip and honeymoon to remember and I would not hesitate to go back! Thanks again to Gavin and his team.

Myself and my wife stayed here for 4 days at the end of our honeymoon. She was initially apprehensive about 4 days in a tent, but her concerns quickly disappeared once we arrived!
Gavin and the staff are amazing, catering to our every need (including a private dinner on my Wife's birthday!) they are very knowledgable, have greaf outgoing personalities, and make every drive memorable.
I would not hesitate in recommending this camp to anyone doing a safari, especially considering a lot of the other camps are much bigger and impersonal.
It was an experience that we will never forget!
