“Beginning to end, the best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2014

I cannot speak highly enough of Londolozi, and especially Varty Camp. My daughter and I recently returned from a wonderful few days there. I can only repeat the other reviews in saying Londolozi is an unforgettable experience made more special by the dedication of each person there, from ranger and tracker, to managers, to food service and chef, to every staff member, to ensure a perfect experience for each guest. I have not one criticism. As important as this is, even more important is the committment of Londolozi to the environment and the community. Do not miss the "Village Tour" to see the literacy program and preschool, and to visit the Arts Center where they will help you with photography ( and believe me, you will have some spectacular photos.) We had the best massages we have EVER had anywhere, at Varty's spa. The food and drink options were generous and delicious. Coffee on the morning drive in the veldt and sundowners are memorable. Special thanks to the BEST ranger and tracker - Greg and Lef (ok, I know they are all excellent, but we are biased toward OUR guides!) It was very touching when our tiny plane lifted off from the small airstrip at Londolozi, and there were Greg and Lef - waving us off from atop the jeep for BOTH turns down the runway as our plane gathered speed to fly back to Joburg. I am actually on TripAdvisor right now to see about booking another trip.

Room Tip: Didn't see the other rooms, but Room 10 has a wonderful outdoor shower, small dip-pool (jacuzzi...

From the moment we arrived until the sad moment when our flight lifted from the air strip, this experience could not have been better.

There's no need to go into much detail because the many prior reviews of Varty Camp capture the experience perfectly. We traveled with two electronics-addicted boys (12 and 14 yrs old), but for those few days, the world stood still for all of us. In every way, this was a remarkable experience, with special thanks to Simone, Byron and all of the staff for their incredible efforts. Time on safari is not inexpensive, but if that has you sitting "on the fence," dive in at Londolozi and you won't have any regrets.

As we set out on our journey, we thought this would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That plan has been scrapped. We'll be back!

If you can manage it go to this place. It is magnificent. The accommodations, the staff, the experience and the animals combine to make for one of the most (here it comes...) memorable trips of a lifetime. Pardon the cliche, but it is the truth.

Room Tip: We stayed in Founders Lodge which was wonderful, but the others all looked spectacular.

Londolozi means "protector of all living things” and after I have been visited it I can guarantee that it is truth!!! The management of the structure, the services level, the care for the customers, the animals and reserve respect are excellent in this resort.
Unfortunately we could spent just 2 nights and 3 safari days in this hotel (full booked during Christmas days) but I will not forget this emotional period for the whole my life!
I would thank you Tali (I am not sure about her name.....she come from Cape Town), our excellent and friendly ranger, who did her utmost to let us watch all the big five, as close as was possible, satisfying each our curiosity and explaining to us their life habits.

The large room was in the founders camp, with a perfect king size bed (better then mine), a spectacularly desk with a good view on the river and a small private pool!
Everything was included (also the champagne in the room).

The dinners and breakfasts were fine (to be honest, perhaps they should add some more chooses but the quality is already very good......I come from Italy, it should sound as a guarantee.....).

My dream is to go back there as soon as possible......They let me says that Africa is just a word....emotion!

We recently stayed at Londolozi Tree Camp for 4 nights of our honeymoon. It was the most incredible, unforgettable experience. I would not change ANYHING. The room was gorgeous, the staff are all extremely helpful and friendly, and the game drives are something I will never forget! Our ranger Melvin and tracker Milton were incredible - we saw 2 kills in addition to leopards, lions, elephants and the rest of the Big 5. Also, the food is just fantastic. I am quite well travelled and this has to be one of the best experiences I've ever had. Would recommend to anyone!

My wife and I went to South Africa with another couple and visited Londolozi as well as Victoria Falls in Zambia and Cape Town, SA.

We spent four nights in Londolozi, and they were spectacular. I have never experienced such a high level of luxury and service. The moment we arrived (by a 12-seater prop plane from Jo'berg to Londolozi's private landing strip), we had a fantastic time. We were greeted by our guide/ranger (Lucien) who packed our luggage onto the Range Rover and excitedly told us that he had seen lions on his way out to the strip. Moments later, we were viewing three lions lounging in the sun. Amazing. Lucien was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. He is an outstanding guide.

We stayed at the Granite camp, which has only three suites (our party had two of them). It was stunning, comfortable, wonderful. The rooms were gigantic and beautiful, with a huge king bed with mosquito netting (romantic and practical!), a beautiful bathroom with soaking tub, indoor and outdoor showers, and a living room area. It had a fridge and bar, with everything you'd need for a G&T. And, of course, a private pool off the deck. One afternoon we watched a herd of about 30 or 40 elephants walk right past our pool. So amazing. My only slight regret about the room is that we barely spent any time there. One small note: these are "camps" in the sense that they are out in the elements. Therefore, the rooms will show some wear and are less than "brand new perfect" (for example, our shower didn't drain perfectly). This didn't bother me at all: frankly it added to the charm and magnificence of the place that they could provide such luxury in such a rough environment.

The safaris - two per day, about four hours each - were fantastic. We saw so much wildlife, including the big cats (lions, leopards, cheetah), elephants, zebra, rhino, cape buffalo, monkeys, hippo and more. Each safari was different (a different area of the reserve), and each one seemed better than the last. We went on 8 safaris in our four days, and could have easily done more. The safaris were comfortable (6 people in a 9-person Range Rover), and elegant. In the morning, we had a stop for coffee, and in the evening we had cocktail hour, with fresh made G&Ts.

The food was incredible - buffet breakfast with made-to-order eggs, sumptuous lunches with three different salads, meat, vegetables, and amazing, over-the-top dinners that were each unique. I found the food to be incredibly good and not overly fancy, which was just perfect. It was the best food I've ever had at a resort.

The staff was friendly, accommodating and helpful. They memorized all of our likes and dislikes (no cream in my coffee, no cheese ever), and always got it right. They were attentive and made sure everything was perfect. It is so incredibly luxurious to return from morning safari to have a perfect breakfast waiting, hot coffee poured the moment you sit down, your favorite eggs on the way.

Londolozi is not inexpensive. But I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was the trip of a lifetime. I hope to go back.

Room Tip: All the camps looked great. Granite was spectacular. Pick based on how you're travelling (i.e...
