“Very nice for the price”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

When visiting family last year, my family of five ended up at the Western Inn. We were staying for a week and booked ahead, but there was a slight problem when it came time for us to check in. Somehow a company that had booked the hotel had ended up needing more rooms, so the whole hotel was booked! The owners were kind enough to offer us the apartment that they have for rent upstairs. It was a two room suite with 2 tvs, a nice tiled bathroom and huge walkin closet. It had a full kitchen and dining nook too. They did not charge us any different than what we were going to pay for the regular room, were very kind and conversational as we went in and out each day,. The pool was small, but there never seemed to be many people to share it with, they had a grill and a covered area behind it to sit and picnic, and they also had just put in a new playground area, which my kids LOVED.They also had a small breakfast area downstairs that included a waffle iron. Very nice place, and now that we have moved to Roswell, we will be referring family and friends to it as they travel to visit us!

My fiance and I decided to go to Carlsbad caverns for our anniversary. On the way, we stopped in Roswell to see the alien stuff... etc. This was a really nice motel. We were skeptical at first, but gave it a chance because of all the good reviews. The good reviews don't lie. The room was very clean (my fiance is a maid at a resort, so she would know). The lady at the front desk was probably as genuine as you can get. We had but one problem. The light switch in our bathroom caused the light to turn on even when it was supposed to be off. We just shut the bathroom door, not a problem. The tile work in the bathrooms has been redone in the original 1940's style. The owners have made every effort to preserve the historical value of the motel, while adding amenities like cable, mini fridges etc. It was a nice, quiet night's sleep. There was a certain old style charm about it that you don't see much anymore. We will definitely stay here again. It's locally owned and family operated, There were nothing but good vibes about this motel. Give it a chance, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: We stayed in 107. cool shower.

We stopped at this hotel on our way to Angel Fire for a ski trip. After 12 hours of driving, this was a good place to stop for the night. It was quiet and safe. It is a 70 year old hotel and the room showed its age, but for $65 a night and traveling with 3 teenage boys, it was worth it!

I was on a cross-country road trip and stayed at many cheap hotels/motels around the country and this was actually the worst and not even the cheapest. I always look to tripadvisor when picking each place because I do have high standards when it comes to cleanliness and safety, but I never think I’m going to be walking into a 4 star hotel. The Western Inn was fine, but it was just a little sad and although it seemed relatively clean, I still felt more comfortable sleeping inside my sleeping bag on the bed verses straight on the sheets. They also offer a “continental breakfast” which only consists of the worst coffee I’ve ever tasted and plastic wrapped, stale, donut bun things. I hate to waste, but I took one sip and one bite and just had to throw it all out. I would not stay here again unless they dropped the price to under $40.

Western Inn was very comfortable and our room was huge. The sign said "Recently remodeled" but it's probaby been a few years. Even so, things were well maintained for the most part. My biggest complaint would be the lack of wifi. Other than that, it was a good value, clean and comfortable.

We stayed at the Western Inn the end of September for one night. The owners were very accomodating. Although the room was old, it was well maintained, very large and had everything we could need. The beds were very comfortable and the was a standard apartment refrigerator and microwave in the room.

The staff at the Western Inn were very friendly and the price was very reasonable... $67 for a room with two beds, a fridge, microwave and a table and chairs. It's very conveniently located to Main St. in Roswell, so visiting the alien touristy stuff was easy! The only things that we could say negative aren't really a big deal... the fridge didn't work very well and made a dripping noise all night, which woke up my husband a few times and the shower, while in the early morning and late evening had amazing hot water and pressure was not so great around 9am, but we figure that was due to other people showering at the same time. Overall a GREAT value, clean room! Will definitely stay again on our next trip to Roswell!!!
