Camp Davis is a family camp nestled in the Gascon valley of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Northern New Mexico. It offers the traditional activities of a summer camp (hiking, fishing, horseback riding, archery, ping pong, games, etc) along with nearby river rafting, golf and skiing in the winter. Cabins sleep 5+ with various layouts, have nice bathrooms, and are charmingly rustic.
Highlights: The meals (featured Louisiana fare and local New Mexico specialities: Fried chicken, Jambalaya, Carne Adovada, homemade cinnamon rolls and desserts), the location (beautiful green valley with wild roses and irises and abundant hummingbirds), and the hospitality (warm hosts treated us like long time friends from day 1). And I can't forget the friendly dogs Thibodeaux and Dixie!
Low point: Getting lost on the way there (my fault, I forgot to print directions off the website and trusted GPS instead. Very Important to use directions off the website!)
Overall a wonderful location for a family reunion or other group vacation. Gorgeous, relaxing and memorable.
