“Awesome Hotel”

Mike Patel runs an awesome place. The hotel is clean, full of friendly staff, updated with great furnishings and a killer TV. The computer in the lobby actually works and the breakfast is the best deal in town. The best part about this place is that it is dog friendly and walking distance to the lift.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the river!

This place was a breath of fresh air after spending over $200 a night in a crammed ski-in-ski hotel room at Taos with a buddy. While the room at Taos was arguably "nicer" because of superior bath and furniture, the Best Western Rivers Edge was much preferred because it was twice as big, the TV was mounted on the wall and huge and came with full "at home" cable capabilities ie guide and full digital channels including movies. There was also a min-fridge (not included at Taos). Staff was friendly and very helpful. Lift at Red River was about as close as I've seen anywhere, literally 50 feet. Mountain is a bit small and the lifts are slow. If I ever go back to New Mexico, I would stay here, do Red River one or two days and drive to Taos and Angel Fire for the rest (they are about .75-1 hour away). If you have a family with beginner skiers this is a no brainer, don't even go to Taos. The rate I got was $76 for two queens.

Room Tip: I got a first floor room on the lift side. I may have been able to get a king that was farther away...

Very nice Best Western and close to the Platinum lift. The breakfast was excellent! Cooked to order eggs and waffles. Ask for a creek side room. The only downside was the heating/cooling unit was very loud and the auto fan function did not seem to work. Could have used a more substantial blanket or comforter on the bed, but otherwise, the room was well appointed. Dish big flat screen TV - but no PBS (we were there on a Downton Abbey night) - was a disappointment.

Room Tip: Ask for a creek side room.

Just returned home from a wonderful trip to Red River. Stayed at the Best Western for the fourth year in a row. The staff and facility are top notch and the hospitality definately wins our business for many years to come. I strongly recommend the Best Western River's Edge and we are looking forward to next years trip and visit with the staff, who are also our friends.

Family of four stayed four nights in a kitchenette. Room was like brand new! Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, very upscale! Room had brand new full size bunk beds and mattresses. Queen bed was very comfortable with great pillows. Room has 42 inch tv with tons of channels. Hot tub has great view of mountain and river. Hotel is literally steps from from platinum lift, which is the main lift that goes to top of mountain. Also steps away from Lift House Bar and Grill at the bottom of the face. Best location in town! They serve a great breakfast with made to order eggs, waffles, and bacon. Also had cereal, bagels, etc. Hotel is part of kids ski free program. Stay three or more nights, kids stay free with adult lift ticket of three or more days. Saved us around $250!! You can not find a better deal around. The best part of the stay was the friendly staff. Mike the GM and Courtney the owner are great. Even made me a cocktail in the lobby! Lobby is great place to relax after long day of skiing. Big TV and computer for checking email or whatever.
Thanks for everything,
Jeff and Kim

I’ve stayed at other hotels in Red River and the Best Western is on the top of the list. This visit found even more upgrades to an already beautiful hotel. The main ski-lift is about 100 feet from the Lobby, perfect! The made to order eggs and waffles are brilliantly prepared and will keep you going on the slopes. Courtney, Mike and Mark are extremely friendly, helpful and treat you like family.
Bravo!

My wife and I took a middle-of-the-week trip to Red River to do a little snowboarding and decided to stay at this hotel. We have stayed at several other places in Red River, but we were really happy with our decision to try Best Western! We had a room on the river side with two queen beds ... and the room was very good. The bed was comfortable and the room came with a fridge and microwave. Part of our decision to stay at Best Western was to save some money on our trip. Having breakfast included with our stay was a BIG plus ... and the breakfast ended up being really really good! Both Mike and Mark did a great job making eggs to order with a side of bacon and delicious waffles! There were other options for breakfast too ... so there's no reason to not hit the slopes with a nice, fully tummy.
Since this hotel is so close to the Platinum Chair Lift, we would just walk over to the base of The Face to get our snowboarding day started. When we got hungry for lunch, we would just walk back to the hotel and make some sandwiches (another money-saving step ... we made our own lunch). So, we obviously put the little fridge in the room to good use. We brought some lunchmeat and other lunch items in a cooler and it worked out great for us. After lunch, we got our gear back on and walked back over to finish up our snowboarding fun. A couple of the nights, we utilized the hot tub ... and after a long day of snowboarding, it was so nice to sink into a nice hot tub! Yes, the air temperature was down in the single digits, but that made our time in the hot tub that much more enjoyable! The trip back our room, however...now that's a different story! Talk about a cold run! :-)
There were just a couple of small quirky things that made for a less-than-perfect stay. The first was the internet connection. My laptop would not stay connected to their wireless internet service for longer than 10 or 15 minutes. It would frequently "hang up" or just disconnect me. It was a minor inconvenience, however.
The only other issue we had was with the water in our room. There were times where the cold water coming out of the tap from far from cold. I know that Red River has exceptionally cold "city water"...so this really boggled my mind. Occasionally, it would be cold (like it should be), but other times, it was downright warm. Odd, but again, a minor inconvenience.
Overall, I would highly recommend staying at the Best Western Rivers Edge.
