“Best Best Western”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2012

Every chance we get to travel to Red River we stay at the Best Western. The rooms are very clean and modern with comfortable beds and a large television. We prefer the riverfront rooms with the spectacular view! You could not ask for better service from Mike and Courtney. They will make you feel like family!

We spent a week at this property and it was just great. We were on the riverside upstairs and there was a great view of the river and the tree. They have gas grills so you can save a few bucks by doing your own grilling. Be advised places to eat in Red River are not very good. Plan on eating most meals in your room. The hotel has breakfast every morning and it about as good as what you get in town. Most of the places to eat in town are also very expensive. If we wanted to eat out we drove to Taos which is about 30 miles. We will be going back to this property in September of this year.

Room Tip: Get a room on the river side

Very nice and clean room. Courtney the owner and Mike the manager take very good care of their customers. In this area quite a bit on business and will stay here from now on.

From our arrival to our departure the service was spectacular. We arrived for a half day of skiing. The front desk staffer offered a space to change into ski gear prior to checking in, and even offered to extend the breakfast time for us as breakfast was just ending.

The room was newly renovated and clean. The room featured a nice king bed, mounted flat screen TV and refrigerator. The bathroom was newly tiled and clean. The location was perfect, literally next door to the ski lift, visible from the porch area in front of our hotel room. I don't think you could find a closer hotel. The restaurants and other establishments are mostly within walking distance.

Staff was friendly all the way down to the the staff-prepared eggs and waffles - a great way to begin a day of skiing.

The only complaint would be the noise level. On the end unit we could hear other guests walking by above us and around us. It may be unavoidable due to the ski boots and luggage treading on the wood decking but it was definitely noticeable at 530am. However, the majority of the time was uninterrupted and very peaceful. Compared to a competitor's room nearby at a similar price, this was a hands down better room.

Overall, it was a great experience. The room was a great value for the price, and the staff made us feel like guests, not tourists. We would recommend this hotel to anyone we know travelling to Red River.

Room Tip: I would recommend a middle room on the top floor to avoid noise. Also recommend the non-parking lot...

Great staff, clean rooms, breakfast- eggs cooked to order. Ski slopes right next door. What more does one need?

BWRE is a wonderful hotel. The owner has updated the property and the rooms clean and cozy. Mike Patel is the manager who lives onsite and is always ready to assist you in every way! He cooks a great breakfast with REAL eggs (not the powered ones) made to order. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable! It is located right next to the ski slope on the river in the heart of downtown Red River.

I tried booking over the phone and asked about a military discount since friends of ours had just booked a room using the military discount. The reservations man told me that, "it's not like you are stationed here. You're on vacation. This is a resort town." I thought that was an unnecessary comment.

When I saw your review I immediately met with everyone who works the front desk. I come from a long line of military families, and would never let a discount be denied to any active, reserve or ex-military, and everyone who has ever taken reservations for me knows this. The 2 others who could have taken the call are Mark (ex-U.S. Army, South Korea) and Mike (who loves nothing more than entertaining our guests from the military).
Mark did remember a recent call from someone seeking the MILT discount who had admittedly never served in the military. They worked for a military contractor, and could have gotten a rate based on US federal government per diems, but only for travel on official business. This might explain how your friend "had just booked a room using the military discount" while you were unable to do so, presumably a short time later. If you serve or have served in the military and stayed with us in February with no discount I will send you a $100 voucher redeemable at any Best Western in the world. Please respond to courtneyandsydney@hotmail.com with your dates of stay and the name on your reservation, as I have been unable to locate any with a first or last name of Max or Maxwell...

sincerely,
Courtney Henderson, owner
