My husband and I got to go on an offroad tour/ recon mission with Gary close to Goose Lake. He would stop and let us get out to look around in certain areas and had a vast amount of knowledge of the area. Overall, Gary was a wonderful guide and very accomidating to our needs.
We got to see where gold mining use to take place and where people use to live up there. We were very suprised to hear the rich history this area has.
Be sure to bring a camera, walking shoes, and a jacket since it does get colder the higher up you go.
Since we have moved to Red River, this has been our favorite experience so far! We have already booked a tour for family when they come to visit. This is defenitely a must-do when you come to Red River!

Fabulous 3 hour trip up Pioneer Canyon...in a snowstorm! Would go again tomorrow. Gorgeous Aspen groves and remains of old Mining Camps. Old Mines and beautiful Pioneer Creek all the way up the trail. Great Trail Guide. Took pics for us and was very informative.
Just an all-around great trip.

Decided to take a family trip to Red River over Spring Break and it ended up being one of the best family trips we have taken. Spent 4 days there and ended the trip on a high note! Decided to take a snow cat tour up the mountain with James at Red River Offroad and the kids are still talking about it. The snow cat tour started at the base of the ski mountain and winded up a trail through aspens & pines. The first stop we got to explore a couple of old gold mines and saw remains of an old mining community. There was lots of fresh snow so we had to stay on the trail but the scenery was incredible. We crossed a couple of small streams along he trail but it was no problem for the snow cat. Kids had a blast and the adults witnessed true beautiful Red River wilderness. Would highly recommend the trip with Red River Offroad.

My husband and I just returned from a tour. Our guide was terrific. Being the only two on this tour, we were able to spend time talking with Gary, our guide. He was very informative about the area. He made the trip very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this company. Can't wait to come I back and take the spring tour.

This tour was fantastic, we went as two couples. It was cozy sharing a blanket with my boyfriend driving up the mountain side. This trip was taken in February and the snow was about 12 inches deep. The machine that our guide Gary used was very effective traveling through the snow and crossing the creeks. Our guide Gary was full of interesting information about the town, the wildlife, and mountain landscapes. He showed us numerous mines and an old miners camp. He also showed us were an aspen tree had been marked dating back to 1960. He was very well liked by all in our group and he was very accommodating to us. He would stop and allow us to several wonderful pictures. I was very impressed at how he would pick up trash that others had left on the trail, he was constantly apologizing for it, but we reassured him that it was ok. This is trip I will look forward to again.
