This trail runs along the river. Do not need to be an advanced hiker. Trail is easily accessible and safe. We saw some deer crossing our trail, that was nice for pictures. We love this trail, it is beautiful and gives you a good hike.

The trail is located on the south side of the Red River that flows through town. The entrances are not well marked, and on our 2-mile stretch there were only 2 markers to indicate nature items. The extent / direction of the trail is not well marked in some areas where two or more paths are available. The close proximity of the river is what makes this trail enjoyable.

This trail is OK, but I seriously doubt that the people in town who have rated it as 'easy' and 'kid-friendly' have traversed its entire length. I wasn't with kids, but I would have had a heart attack if I was with any child under the age of 18. This is poorly marked single track that falls off to a sheer drop in many places. Hiking alone, I had to turn back three-fourths of the way because the trail faded away into nothingness. Anyone who thinks this is suitable for small children is smoking crack or suffering from altitude sickness.

This was a beautiful slice of the mountain. We enjoyed the wild flowers and occasional deer. There was no easy way to get off the trail and after walking for an hour the trail washes out. It's dangerous at that point to proceed. The markers that discuss the flora and fauna have all been knocked over or have fallen down the mountainside. After we got back we found out that there is lower route, but given the lack of markings it was difficult to tel. Proceed with caution.

The Nature Trail is an easy outing in downtown Red River any season: walking or snowshoeing. Deer are often seen. Right along the Red River. 1/2 to 1 hours.
