it smelled really smokey it was nasty the pillows were not comfortable i slept without one but pool was great and hot tub very hot nice!! but paint was fading away. they should really add security in parking lot and put freshers in smoking rooms.

Room Tip: rather sleep at another hotel for this price

We stayed here on our way north and on the way home three weeks later. We've stayed here several times in the past, it was a Comfort Inn the last time we were there. The hotel is getting older and showing a little wear but for the money, it's always my choice in Raton. Our room has always been clean and the staff accommodating. We usually stop there late to sleep and move on early in the morning. We've never had a problem there.

We stayed recently at this hotel, but I don't think the room had been cleaned. The beds looked like the linens had not been changed. I don't mind older motels as long as they are clean. The Quality Inn franchise should look into making some improvements to the facility.

We use a real diversity of lodging on the road, from upper echelon to low budget and tent camping. For a halfway point between the excellent wildlife refuges in NM (we like to hike and hunt--for viewing only), we stayed at this hotel in poor little Raton, which seems to have taken a battering from the economic slump. It seems like half the town is bankrupt, but what is left is soldiering on, and some of it is really nice. Our Quality Inn room had broken furniture, and very few outlets (no way to work comfortably on computer in room), BUT it also had fast, very hot water, and nearby a number of the standard American restaurants--no comment on those. Price was a tad high for the category, but we were satisfied. Note that 30 min. up the road (2nd exit to the north) is a really lovely NM state park, Sugarite. It sustained a fast, harsh fire in 2011 and the birds, vegetation & wildlife there will be interesting to watch in the next years.

Room Tip: At this location, depends on what you like (no traffic noise). We like upper floors, no ceiling &quo...

We have stayed at many hotels in Raton through the years. This is by far the best. It is also competitive in price with those 'other' hotels where you DO NOT want to stay.

This is an older motel, it is clean, and looks OK, needs updating. We were surprized that there was no microwave or refer in the room. I suppose this was disclosed when we made reservations but we missed it. Seems a standard in most rooms today.
There are lots of motels here, and we paid about $80 for the night. Reasonable but we may have done better, but looking at the other reviews for Raton, perhaps we did OK afterall. The sign as you enter town is "21 motels" I would stay here again but would also check other travelers recommendations for the other 20.

First impressions are everything and I have nothing but great things to say. From the phone call booking the room to the greeting at check-in. Great budget hotel.
