Staying at the Raton Pass Inn was a complete delight. Its management nothing but first class. Clean as a whistle. The welcome friendly and helpful. While modest in its offerings, it nevertheless deserves five stars in my book.

Updated and beautiful room, friendly and active owner, decent breakfast, I was really impressed. If you have ever wondered what a 1940's old motel was like when brand new this is your chance. Very charming. I wish it was also open in winter. I will return.

We stopped here with our two young kids (ages 4 & 7) and had a good experience. Jan treats the place more like a bed & breakfast with some chocolates in the room (bonus with the kids!), bottled water and some books to read. She also had books & DVDs for checkout in the front office. The towels were nice & soft! That's so hard to find in most motel/hotels! Sheets & comforters were nice too. When I walked up to find breakfast, I found 2 or 3 different families having breakfast and all chatting together, even though they had not met before. Again, Jan was there at breakfast available to answer questions or help with anything. Breakfast was continental with hard-boiled eggs (a plus for those looking for gluten-free fare), cereal, toast, oatmeal, sweet breads, juice, fruit & yogurt. I would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: The beds are double size, but they are extra long, so that's nice for the taller folk.

Jan has been welcoming me for several years as I pass through Raton. Yes it is small and 50s looking, but it's her charm and friendly smile that makes the place. The rooms are dated but always clean. She has DVDs that she loans and coffee and breeakfast in the morning. It's a great place to sit on the porch and watch the world go by.

Room Tip: Ask Jan where to eat. She always has the latest food reviews.

It doesn't look like much at first glance, but glance again. It has 50's charm, but comfy beds, great heaters for those cold evenings, and personable staff. CLean, comfy and friendly.

I have stayed at this little motel for years. Not only is it clean and pleasant but the innkeeper is delightful. She remembers you - try to find THAT in a city. The breakfast is quite a spread even if there are only a few people staying. More like bed and breakfast. Quiet and always welcoming - western hospitality at its best.

We stayed here by default, having arrived in Raton in the middle of the night with no reservations and all of the national chains full. The innkeeper took our reservation (if you call it that on 15 min. notice) and ran down to put extra towels in our room, since we're a family of 5. The hotel is about 60 years old, but it's clean and tidy. It was just what we needed. I'd stay there again.
