Owner description: The Sky City Cultural Center and Haak’u Museum, rich in cultural architecture, serves as the reception center and museum for visitors to the Pueblo of Acoma, as well as a research and community use facility for tribal members. The primary 40,000 square foot Cultural Center is a two story structure with a basement and central courtyard/plaza area. The Cultural Center was designed to represent and recreate the ancestral architectural styles of the Acoma people – which include natural stacked stone and natural mud plastered adobe – while showcasing Acoma Pueblo architecture both past and present. This world class facility is dedicated to the preservation of Acoma history, traditional pottery and other art forms, the repatriation of objects of cultural patrimony and the development of both educational and interpretive programs.

Our tour of Acoma Pueblo was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide, Dakota Chino, was so knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned a great deal about the history and culture of the pueblo. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone in the area.

If you are anywhere near Albuquerque or Santa Fe, take some time to visit the Acoma Pueblo about 1 hour west of Albuquerque. We enjoyed a lovely day there a few weeks ago as part of a trip to Albuquerque and Santa Fe. You will need to purchase tickets for the tour of the Pueblo and a photography permit; they were reasonably priced and worth it. Our guide, Brandon (aka Turtle) was wonderful. Along the tour route, several Acoma families have their potttery and other handmade items for sale if you wish to buy. Learned so much about the hisotyr of the people and of the area. Would return again and again.

Nice visitor center. Our tour guide Dakota Chino provided an enjoyable tour and was very knowledgeable. The views from the Mesa of the surrounding area are fantastic. The people at the pueblo were friendly. The tour also includes a mission style church that was built on top of the Mesa and a lesson in the history of the Acoma people including the fact that this is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the United States.

We were so delighted to take this tour and learn about the Acoma Pueblo and the natives that continue to share their culture. The natives that we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. The church and its origination story was very interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable about his people and their customs.

Beautiful views, great history told by Native American guide- ours was a wonderfully knowledgeable young woman. It was worth every penny. You don't come across these views and architecture history just anywhere. I also welcomed the opportunity to purchase quality artwork and actually meet the artist. This is a total highlight to my trip out west. Glad I went.
