I have enjoyed Blades several times before and I am pleased that every time I return it seems to be better than the other times. Waitress recommended a terrific pinot which complimented dinner quite well. I had the paella and yoshie had beef bourgogne. The paella could not have been better. The beef had a splash too much wine but was otherwise excellent. Not to be missed.

Blade's is a great find in the wonderful little community of Placitas. The food is always good; specials are tasty surprises; and wine selection is very good. Very worth the trip.

Where has this place been hiding? It's only a few miles from Albuquerque & is AMAZING. We went for Sunday brunch and had a nice sampler of quite a few menu items due to the size of our group. The beets with goat cheese & balsamic glaze are to die for (& I really don't care for beets). We also really liked the chicken fried steak with green chile. In fact I'll start adding green chile when I make chicken fried steak at home. Croque Madame was very yummy. We shared several of the desserts and while all delicious, the chocolate Pots de Creme was the favorite.

Service was impecable.

Blades Bistro has been our favorite for several years, either for special occasions or when visitors are in town. Eclectic menu--seafood, steaks, salads, soups, and an impressive wine list. We have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Entrees run about $14-$23, and (good) wines by the glass are $7-$10. On Wednesdays, bottles of wine are 1/2-price.
This is a small restaurant with a distinct European flair and a friendly staff, and it's not unusual to strike up conversations with convivial diners at nearby tables. Everything on the menu is freshly prepared every day, and one can see, smell and taste the difference. There are other "fine dining" restaurants in the greater Albuquerque area, but Blades' location in the attractive, rural community of Placitas (just east of Bernalillo) is within easy reach of I-25, and conveys the relaxed feel one gets from being out in the country. A meal at Blades is always a pleasure.
