The Artesian Restaurant provides a casual dining experience and charming atmosphere. Ojo is the only hot springs in the world with 4 unique, sulfur-free mineral waters. The resort is historic, yet modern and fresh with eclectic charm in a relaxed and tranquil environment. The full-service spa offers a wide array of restorative treatments including nurturing massage and hydrating face and body treatments. Don't miss a soak in a private outdoor pool by fire at night or in the seasonal, detoxifying mud pool. We offer an unpretentious and uncomplicated atmosphere with a variety of lodging accommodations, including enchanting suites, charming cottages, the historic hotel and private homes. All lodging includes access to all mineral pools every day of your visit.

Fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. The Green Chile Fries are not to be missed (the Chef has graciously provided the recipe on their website) and the New Mexican Pot Stickers are a unique take on this standard Asian fare. For dinner, the Mexican Shrimp with smoked chile lobster sauce and Seared Sea Scallops with fried spinach were superb. Add a Chocolate Cigar and taste of Coconut Mango Tres Leches for desert and you’re sure to have sweet dreams! For breakfast, depending upon your taste, you have the option to begin the day with healthy Steel Cut Oats with fruit or celebrate with a Prickly Pear Mimosa. No matter what you order, you can’t really go wrong!

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. The first time was for an extended stay so I was able to try several of the menu items. I love that they offer local specialties and overall a good variety of unique takes on traditional dishes. It is a bit pricey, especially their dinner menu. On my most recent trip I ordered the wild mushroom pizza and left with horrible food poisoning. I have had this same dish before and it was delicious- I guess I just had bad luck that day, but I might be hesitant to eat here again.

Dear Guest,

We thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay at Ojo, and are grateful for your continued patronage.

Your report of food poisoning has caused us great concern and we are researching this issue. It does not appear that any of our managers received any notice of reports of illness following meals in The Artesian Restaurant. This type of claim is highly unusual and it appears that yours is an extremely isolated incident. Nevertheless, we ask that you call me at your earliest convenience to further discuss your experience.

Please know we are very concerned about your report and your well being, and again urge you to call me as soon as possible at (505) 583-3221.

Sincerely,
Eric Martinez

What a wonderful way to end a day of rest and relaxation! The menu was unique and the food was superb! I had the swordfish special...it was mouthwatering! My husband is still bragging about his shrimp choice! The dessert menu was delightful (although we were too stuffed to enjoy as part of our meal, the waiter was gracious enough to package it to go)! It's a bit pricey but you truly do get what you pay for! The service was excellent!!

We have eaten at the Artesian Restaurant many times over the last 20 years and thru several different owners and the cuisine is certainly much improved with the current owners. Last night we had two entrees and an a bottle of australian sauvignon blanc wine, the total bill was almost $100.00. A restaurant which has entrees at this price needs to provide comfortable seating and a variety of breads at least. While the meal was good, it was not excellent. The noise level is high and not conducive to an enjoyable evening out. We hope the restaurant will consider our comments as constructive and we would like to be able to return again since this is one of the few restaurants which does not serve only northern New Mexican food in the area.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your observations with us regarding your recent dining experience at The Artesian Restaurant here at Ojo. We greatly appreciate your continued patronage over the years! We do our very best to serve fresh and traditional Northern New Mexico cuisine, with dishes that cannot be had anywhere else.

Our menu at The Artesian is special and most of our dishes are housemade recipes created from scratch. We believe this allows us to offer a more unique dining experience ? from frying our own tortilla chips, to rolling our own red chile pizza crust, making our own soups and sauces, and desserts and ice cream.

We also source the finest quality ingredients from the best vendors at the most competitive pricing. For example, our seafood is flown in fresh from Seattle Seafood Company and shuttled straight from the airport. Our shrimp are Mexican white shrimp, not from a Chinese fish farm. We use 100% pure maple syrup. Our lamb is sustainably produced from a local farm. We use Harris Ranch beef in our burgers. Our orange juice and lemonade are ultra premium and not from concentrate. Our Arabica coffee is fair trade & organic.

Additionally, we have begun the early phases of our farm-to-table program. We have small gardens on property that are currently supplying greens to the restaurant including mustard, lettuce, spinach, arugula and orach. This is a small achievement given our high dessert location and current drought.

Local and organic products are used whenever possible, especially during the brief but glorious summer season. All our eggs are organic, as are the mixed salad greens. In short, we use the best quality ingredients available at the most reasonable price we can find, and then combine them in unique and exciting ways to present meals that surprise and delight our guests. We believe this extra effort and cost is worth it, because our guests deserve the best quality we can offer.

We also have plans for an expansion that should significantly enhance our ability to better accommodate our guests and small groups in The Artesian Restaurant & Wine Bar, especially during busy times.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you again for sharing your observations, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon!

Sincerely,
Eric Martinez
