My wife and I have been to Ojo twice and the second time we stayed over. The experience was excellent when we stayed. We spent one night in the old hotel section and then two nights in one of the little cabins. Both rooms were lovely, clean, and peaceful. The cabin was better so do think about upsizing from the old hotel. Keep in mind you will be so tired from the hot springs it doesn't matter where you stay. The best part was getting up in the morning right when they opened and going to the springs. The waters are always good, clean, and comfortable. We also did the saunas and they were to a high standard. I hiked some of the hiking trails while my wife chilled in the hot springs and the landscape was pure New Mexico. Speaking of which, the gardens around the springs are beautiful. So, highly recommend. We will be going back for sure.

My only real complaint is that for the cost you pay there is no breakfast included. The food at the restaurant was very good and I would love to see breakfast included with the stay.

Room Tip: Hit those springs early! Before the day trippers arrive.

Dear Guest,

We are delighted to know that you found your stay at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa so enjoyable. We greatly appreciate your recommendation and your continued patronage!

Thank you for letting us know too that you enjoyed your stay in one of our North Cottages. As you may know, the Historic Hotel and North Cottages are our entry level lodging types; and, as such, they do not have the same amenities as are featured in our suites. Showers or tub/shower combos, microwaves, mini-refrigerators, in-room coffee and tea, and satellite TV are provided in these rooms. In addition, our Kiva Pool, which features extended soaking hours, is available to guests lodging in our suites.

In an effort to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, we do not at this time include any meals with lodging rates. Based on our competitive analysis, we have found that our pricing is comparable, if not even more affordable than other hot springs resorts in New Mexico and across the country. Our lodging guests have the value-added amenity of access to all of our mineral pools, steam room, saunas and mud pool included in the price of lodging.

We thank you again for your kind review and observations. Please be assured that all of our guest feedback is considered very carefully as we strive to exceed our guests' expectations. We hope you will visit us again very soon!

Sincerely,

Eric Martinez

What a great retreat! The pools are super clean and well kept. Customer service is provided by a staff of friendly and very happy employees that show their desire to make your stay is memorable and relaxing. The hotel rooms where clean, but lacked a shower. Not a big deal though as we spent most of our time in the pools. The private pools are exceptional with a wood burning Kiva fireplace to boot!

Dear Guest,

We are so pleased to know that you had a truly relaxing and restorative experience during your stay at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa, and we thank you for your kind review.

As you may know, the Historic Hotel was built in 1916 and the hotel rooms are priced as our entry level lodging type which feature the original ½ baths, and do not have the same amenities as our cottages, suites and private homes. Guests who stay in the Hotel use the shower facility in the bathhouses in the Springs' area. Showers or tub/shower combos, microwaves, mini-refrigerators, in-room coffee and tea, and satellite TV are available in our other accommodations. Throughout the process of renovating and expanding our facilities, we have been careful to maintain the historic nature of the hotel and springs, and to provide a wide variety of lodging price points for our guests.

For your next visit, you may wish to stay in one of our beautiful suites, which feature large flat-screen televisions, kitchenettes, and access to our beautiful new Kiva Pool. Our Pueblo and Cliffside Suites offer Kiva fireplaces, and the Cliffside Suites feature private outdoor soaking tubs.

We hope this information is helpful to you, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

Sincerely,
Eric Martinez

I just returned from a "girlfriend getaway" at Ojo Caliente and was 100% pleased with the experience. Our package included spa treatments and admission to all pools, yoga sessions, along with tiered pricing for accommodations. I would recommend spending the few extra dollars to stay in the Pueblo Suites. The rooms are very expansive and include a Kiva fireplace, large bathroom, small fridge, microwave, all in the Southwest motif and ambiance. The history of Ojo Caliente can be found online, but suffice it so say the various mineral pools all provide relief from arthritis and other ailments.
We ate every meal in the Artesian Restaurant or wine bar. The food was exceptional! I ate gluten free meals and found them very tasty. The offerings range from tortilla soup (excellent) to cinnamon duck or sea bass. The chef provides an excellent variety of spice and flavor pairings that added to our experience. The wine list was varied and we sampled several varieties, along with a New Mexico wine.
I will definitely be back. There was only one downside to this retreat and that is that I needed to de-stress from some recent trauma. The "Whisper Only" rule in the pool area is not always followed. If you go - a massage after a hot pool and steam room is a must. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Pueblo Suites are excellent and very roomy! These are set apart from the hotel, but they are a short...

Dear Guest,

We are so gratified to know that you enjoyed your recent stay with us and were able to "de-stress" from recent events and retreat to Ojo for some rest and relaxation. We thank you for your kind review and the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

We apologize that you were disturbed by the conversation of guests during your recent stay. We've listened to our guest feedback and have recently created two separate whisper environments within the Springs. Our intention is that the Iron, Soda, Cliffside Pools, Private Outdoor Pools, and the Kiva Pool for lodging guests will be maintained as a tranquil Whisper Zone to provide the quiet and peaceful experience that Ojo is known for. The area including the Large pool, the Arsenic Pool and a new Mud Area will be designated as a more relaxed, social area, enabling our guests to enjoy each others' company while still maintaining the calm that draws our visitors to these sacred waters. We are working to fine-tune this new policy so that all of our guests will have an enjoyable experience in the Springs. In order to make this change as smoothly as possible, we will also be posting new signage to inform our guests of our policy.

We hope this information is helpful, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon!

Sincerely,

I'd suggest this place is worth twenty dollars for a soak, but not thirty, which is the amount you'll pay if you end up enjoying it on Friday thru Sunday.
Sad way to start off a review, but as seen through one guys eyes...
I found the place crowded, clean, and a fair amount of folks enjoying it on holiday. Used to be you'd run into locals there, but ever since the renovation, well I suppose you can't eat your cake and have it too.
The mens room was getting a little long in the tooth, the drains were clean mind you, but for that price I think you should get locks for your locker.
I still love the soda pool; the mud is a bit weird, too difficult to get it all out of every orifice...I think they'll have it all dolled up with flowers come the warmer weather, and I will return, but it'll be
M-TH is all, then I wont whine about the higher costs...
Have a fun soak, you owe it to yourself, Salida1048

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent visit to Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed our legendary mineral waters and appreciate the opportunity to address your comments.

Ojo attracts and is largely visited by our New Mexican friends' and neighbors who primarily come to soak for the day and, as you related, we are much busier during holiday periods than other times of the year. We value all of our guests and work to preserve the legacy of Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs as a gathering place of diverse people. However, in an effort to address overcrowding and in an effort to preserve the healing quality of the guest experience, our prices are higher on weekends and peak holiday periods. Additionally, like so many other businesses in today's economy we are too challenged by rising costs. We make every effort to maintain affordable price points and we maintain a steady comparative analysis to other hot springs properties in the area. At the present time, we do charge an additional fee for providing locks. Guests are free to bring a lock from home as well.

In order to accommodate the ever-growing number of guests visiting and to enhance our guest experience, we are in the midst of an extensive remodel of the Men's Changing Areas. The newly expanded section in the Main Bathhouse was opened earlier this month (April 2013), and we expect the second Men's Changing Area in the Historic Bathhouse to be completed next month in June (2013). In addition, we have plans next Winter (2013-2014) to continue upgrading the Main Bathhouse with new facilities including designated men's and women's spa guest changing facilities with a cozy waiting area and other attractive amenities. There will also be a new public steam room and sauna accessible from the Cliffside area for all guests. We believe these improvements will allow us to continue the provide the unique healing experience that Ojo is known for, while enhancing our ability to better meet the expectations of the modern spa-goer.

We make every effort to provide quality services, with a view towards keeping our fees as reasonable as possible. We thank you for taking the time to post your review and for your suggestions and observations. Please know that all our guest comments are carefully reviewed and considered. We hope you will check our website or Facebook page periodically for news on the progress of our ongoing improvement projects, and also hope you will take the opportunity to visit Ojo again in the future.

Sincerely,

Eric Martinez

After a long day of hiking we decided to stop here...the food was excellent and the mineral springs rejuvenated us! Thanks! It is casual yet elegant! Waitress made some great recommendations for the evening meal. Remember flip flops, as it beats heading to the springs in hiking boots or bare feet. We did not stay here but appreciated and valued the watering hole after a long day! Perhaps we will stay there another time. The mineral springs were cheaper after 6:00 p.m. which was a benefit!

My wife and I try to stay in this quant little, Historic Hotel at least once per year. It isn't fancy but very clean and comfortable. Of course the access to the Hot Springs, the Artisian Resturant, and the comforts and aminities make it a very nice place to kick back and work out the kinks. Take advantage of their stay two nights and the third night is free. Also their Sweet Heart special in February is quite rewarding. If you demand luxury this isn't the place but if comfort and care is in this is a good recomendation.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for posting your kind review. We are pleased that you visit us regularly and enjoy this wonderful environment.

As you may know, the Historic Hotel was built in 1916 and the hotel rooms are our entry level of our many lodging types. As such, they do not have the same amenities as our newer units and that many of our well traveled guests expect. Showers or tub/shower combos, microwaves, mini-refrigerators, in-room coffee and tea, and satellite TV are provided in those other rooms.

You may enjoy trying one of our more fully-appointed suites or cottages during your next visit, and we invite you to check our website for details about each lodging type and seasonal specials. We hope you will continue your annual (or more often) visits, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

A wonderful experience and a fantastic way to celebrate a birthday!! We spent 3 nights and stayed in the old historic hotel - very clean and comfortable bed and close to the restaurant. The restaurant is outstanding and the staff wonderful. As it was my birthday, they surprised me with a birthday treat for breakfast and dinner. The quiet whisper-only policy kept everything so peaceful in the spa area. There are a variety of massages to select from which was perfect - it was hard to select - but I was able to find a perfect one for me!!. We either hiked or toured the country side in the morning, leaving the afternoon for relaxing and soaking in the pools and evening in the restaurant and a glass of wine in the rocking chairs in front of the fireplace. . Looking forward to returning to this "find".
