The Rainbow Resolution Lodge offers the middle ground in Navajo Dam. Not as pricey as Soaring Eagle, and much cleaner and modern than Abe's, it can be the compromise location for the fisherman who wants more than just a bed.
The Lodge is actually a modular construction with three seperate apartments. We stayed in room three, which has two bedrooms with two twins in each. The living area had a few sofas and was clean and comfortable. There is a changing room so you don't have to bring your dirty waders into the living area. This can be beneficial as the mud in the San Juan area contains sulphur, which can bring quite an odor with it. We had a working mini-fridge and a satellite TV, which was not working as well as the fridge.
The kitchen is not always open, so be sure to ask when you book your reservation. Navajo Dam does not boast a thiving resaurant industry. The only eatery is The Sportsman. The house specialty is a burger, and it is OK.
Chris, who runs the place, is extremely professional. He has excellent guides and a good fly shop. He treated us very well. I really enjoyed the fishing experience.
