The Toad has moved into Silver City along with their brewery and Distillery. This was a good place to stop on a visit to the Cliff Dwellings. Now it is a good idea to take a sandwich with you because food service places are iffy to be open even though when they are food is good. My comments below are based on their town restaurant

This motel & restaurant are only open on very rare accessions during the summer months only. It is vital that you call to see if they are open as alternatives for eating in the same area are almost nonexistent

We almost drove by because the place just didn't look that inviting from the road, what a mistake that would have been. Located literally in the middle of nowhere and the only option we found for miles after a long drive and hiking, this place couldn't have been a bigger surprise. We opted to sit outside, not a choice for everyone as the "house dogs" amble around the tables and literally hundreds of hummingbirds race overhead, but it was great entertainment as far as we were concerned. This was supposed to be a quick beer stop until we noticed the menu was ALOT more than the burgers we assumed it would be. Fine dining with great animal entertainment and a waiter with a fun sense of humor - we were entranced!

Ok. Usually I try to give some details so you have some sort of an idea as to what to expect.

Honestly, all I can say is this:
Food, service, staff, ambiance, location - all outstanding. Last, if you're not from the area, ALWAYS CALL first to make sure they'll be open when you get there.

We lucked into the opportunity to eat at Little Toad Creek Inn and Tavern when we were visiting the Gila Cliffs National Monument over Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant is only open a few weekends each year. We loved the rustic and elegant architecture, along with the many hummingbird feeders outside, busily visited by hungry hummingbirds. The restaurant serves local beers and wines, which are very nice. I had a pinot grigio, my husband had the Little Toad Blonde. I ordered their chile cheese hamburger, , cooked medium, minus the bun, and it was perfect and delicious. My husband had the fried chicken and the dinner was quite generous and the chicken succulent. We shared the cherry pie for dessert - lovely! The wait staff is delightful. If you get the chance, try the Little Toad.
