My very elderly mother and I visited Josefina's Gate in the spring. Mother ordered a bland tomato basil soup that the server said was the soup du jour. However, she was served a very spicy tortilla soup, which gave her a gall bladder attack and landed her in the hospital that night. The server was very rude, and said she was too busy to notice that the kitchen had run out of tomato soup. It's a lovely place, but never again!

Went for dinner on Thursday evening, sat outside. Very pretty and there are umbrellas to keep the sun off. Food good--we both liked the cream of broc soup. He ordered the chopped salad and really liked it. I had the quiche (ham & green chile) w/house salad as my side. Despite the waiter's reassurances that the quiche wasn't very spicy, I found it had a little too much heat for my taste, but I'm a real wimp. The salads were very good. We split the ambrosia cake--very yummy and big enough for two. Be warned, the menu at dinner is the same as lunch (with the exception of one dinner special--the night we were there, it was roasted pork loin), so don't expect a lot of hot entrees. Very enjoyable, plus there was live music--a duo playing guitars and singing (mostly in Spanish but they mixed it up). The only room for improvement we saw was in the chairs -- they are wrought iron patio chairs and, w/o cushions, were uncomfortable.
