“Birthday celebration”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

My husband made reservations for 8 and the table was ready when we arrived. The green chile infused Bloody Mary was delicious! Food and service was good and we will be back.

“Amazing ambiance”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

This restaurant is located on the historical Mesilla plaza, which was once served by the famous Butterfield Coach Line traveling from San Louis to San Francisco. Nothing has changed in this place - history will touch You here. This "twin" restaurant (Double Eagle - Peppers) was selected as alternate to the La Posta (original coach line station) due to the long wait. We have selected Peppers - New Mexican food section. We have ordered margaritas, chili rellenos and beef fajitas. Great food, I should say some of the best New Mexican food! Very affordable prices - amazing ambiance - we are looking forward to another visit. Mesilla is the historical part of the modern Las Cruces, NM.

“Definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed May 4, 2014 via mobile

The service wasn't great. The food was only average, but you've got to see this place. It is so baroque and quasi historical that just walking around the restaurant is a kick.

“Top-notch”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

The Double Eagle was recommended by the motel desk clerk, and he was right on the money with this restaurant. We had an excellent meal at a leisurely pace. The service was also excellent, and the wine list was extensive with many reasonably priced offerings. The dining room we ate in was very ornately furnished and exuded elegance. There are additional rooms, each with their own ambience. As we wandered about after dinner, a passing waiter took the time to give us a little of the history of the building. All in all, we had a lovely evening, a great meal and a nice bottle of wine for less than $120 not including the tip.

“3.5 star Sunday Champagne brunch $26.95!”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

+ nice atmosphere
+ good coffee
+ very good service
+ I am not a huge polenta lover however the polenta was over the top good!
+ Omelet bar had many nice selections
+ nice selection of berries and fresh fruit (but went fast and was not restocked)
+ Highly recommend reservations for Sunday brunch
+/- The website had a $5- off coupon for brunch that we did not know about so click on coupon section before you go!!

-crab legs do not come with crab claw crackers, this restaurant has a more upscale feel to it, found it very strange that there were no crab claw crackers...have to use your hands and they were very prickly.
-no water bowl to rinse hands in or hand wipes for use after peeling shrimp, crawfish/crab claws
-They do not restock the crab claws, what they put out went quick and then there were no more, we did not decide until half way through or brunch that we were going to try them and by then there were only a few small pieces left...very disappointing!
-dessert was only average/"OK" Ran out of strawberries for the chocolate fountain, did not restock.
-enchiladas were very dry and had very little filling, simply adding more sauce would have made a positive difference.
