I spent well over $30 for a meal that was disappointing on a holiday weekend with a special meal prepared. I found the chef to be rude and the lamb, which I had been looking forward to was grisly and had but a bite or two that was chewable. The baked goods were tasty and that filled me up.

What delightful serendipitiy!

We hadn't intended for this to be the day to try Laughing Sheep, but when you're out there at lunch time.....turn around and go on in.

Fiddle and Guitar duo was playing, a large triple family party occupied the far end of the room and the owner was waiting on us.

We opted for lamb and elk burgers, the Camarones and Duck Soup appetizers on the Full Meal Plan, eventually for the Cranberry/Pineapple Cobbler and Apple Crisp for dessert.

High Points - the Bread Basket which ended up being included was a sensation-dense breads fresh from the oven/grill and great Dipping Sauce....Burgers ordered 'RARE' actually were! Lamb burger had just the right amount of garlic, Elk was lean and full of flavor...Grilled Cantelope on each plate was a wonder.....mixed greens salad was an adventurous mix of beet micro-cubes, pine nuts and greens from their garden ( next time I will ask for more of the delicious housemade Ranch Dressing).

The whole time we were enjoying our many courses, the staff, the other guests and the musicians maintained a lively conversation across the room at a perfect volume for the space.
Whoever did the casting, did it well.

Think we'll go see the movie when it comes out!

Sally does a wonderful job with this place, and the animals are all so lovely. The greenhouse with all of the organic, home-grown greens is impressive and adds to the deliciousness of everything Sally serves. Absolutely everything is hand-made, including the cottage cheese. This is farm fare; so not a good place for vegans.

It's worth the drive from Ruidoso, Roswell, Alamogordo, even Albuquerque or El Paso to dine at Laughing Sheep. At last, healthy dining exquisitely prepared--and it doesn't cost a fortune. Farm-raised meat and veggies plus owner's handmade desserts, plus a glass of wine or beer in a unique, farm/ranch kitchen atmosphere. Ideal for families or romantic couples. Could be the best (undiscovered) restaurant in Lincoln County. Call for rez
