The dinner ($18 shrimp) was barely edible, bacon around shrimp almost raw, black beans dried out and hard to swallow). The waiter for the breakfast was rude, the food not as described.

Strawberry shortcake was stale, Mexican food had a strange taste to it. Tea is $2.00. Blue corn tacos were good and the free breakfast was satisfying.

The menu rarely seems to change, but the food is always good. A nice variety of New Mexican and traditional American fare. I have never needed a reservation, but it does not hurt, especially when there is something going on in town. I am sure I have eaten here 30-40 times while on business and only once had a real complaint.

I've written about the charming Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, New Mexico. It just gets better. In addition to the wonderful accommodations at excellent prices, there is the restaurant off the lobby. The New Mexico specialties are great: the carnitas are delicious, and so are all dishes using green chilies. Break fast, included in the price of the room, is eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, coffee or tea, all made to order. Splurge on the coffee cake. It is divine. You know about the beautiful renovation of the hotel--- can't say enough about the allegiance to the original. GO if you haven't already.

Nice atmosphere, uneven service and food. As a local, I pretty much quit eating here - food adequate but nothing special, service very slow. Reading the other reviews, I suspect the Landmark is like many restaurants in town - your experience depends on which cook is working on a particular day.
