“Needs much improuvement”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2012

You can keep the atmosphere, the local touch and some of the old stuff, but clean the place up. The shame is that the old place cant survive in a gost town area. I know it's a landmark but the town has to shape up. The food was ok with a very sinple menu with nothing standing out.

“Oscar's at Plaza Casino- after our ex mayor Oscar Goodman - great concept but service is slow.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2011

Christmas dinner with the family and friends- 6 total. The views of Freemont are excellent, favorite vodka Chopin was served very happy. The service was very slow hopefully it was because they are understaffed and it was Christmas day. Steaks had a great flavor- sadly more then half came out cold. Caesar salad was great, blue cheese wedge was yummy. Family sides are served- corn was the favorite by all. Asparagus was steamed perfectly. Would try it again in a few months to see if it can work out the kinks. The place is new so Oscar if your reading this you need to have a playing piano in the dome area to help with the ambiance and improve the service. Need to replace chairs at tables- 3 broke at our table and had to be replaced.

“It's got a way to go for breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2011

Let's see... A special historic hotel with a resturant for breakfast.
If I had to do it again on that basis I would not. Consider it's location I'd be treating
the visitor with a bit of special high plains honey or locally produced fruit jams with locally milled flour sweetbreads in the morning with coffee that has better flavor maybe even the New Mexico Pinon Coffee as an option to a good french roast. If any egg
breakfast was done I'd have a bit of fresh salsa to go with or optional smothering. The roasted potatoes were basic and even here I'd look at improving. That said I did not have lunch or dinner.

“Best Food in Las Vegas NM in a Gem of a Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2011

We were celebrating my wife's birthday at the historic Plaza Hotel. We had asked locals about the places to eat, and the Grill at the Plaza was on everyone's list. We had breakfast and dinner, and enjoyed both. The prices were reasonable and the food was great. Due to the large number of patrons, the service was a bit slow at times, but then, when you are in a historic place in the Mountains of New Mexico on vacation, you should relax and enjoy your self.
