“Visiting the alpacas is really fun!”
Reviewed November 21, 2011

For a really fun, off the beaten path place to visit, and to do something that you probably have never done, take the time to visit Victory Ranch which is approximately 1 hour drive north of Las Vegas, NM. The owner loves to give tours and to introduce her alpacas to visitors. The young alpacas in the visiting pen are about 1 year of age. The owner likes for them to meet people as it helps them become more socialized and accustomed to people. The alpacas are so friendly and like to eat their treats right out of your hand. The tour is only $5.00 per person (slightly less for children), which includes the feed. Tours are scheduled for 11, 1 and 3. The tour guide (owner) also readily takes photos with your own camera. The drive to Victory Ranch is also very beautiful. There is a gift shop which has a varied supply of alpaca yarn, scarfs, hats, sweaters and jackets. All seemed very expensive to us, although they were quite beautiful. Be sure to look at the cute little alpaca refrigerator magnets at the counter made by a local girl... these were only a few dollars.
There are about 300 alpacas on the ranch and each one is named!
This is not a commerical tourist attraction where someone is trying to get you spend extra money for the extras like food or commercial photos. It is a very casual place and is well worth a visit.

“Too Much fun!”
Reviewed October 21, 2011

The wools are so soft and the animals are so cute! The reason you cannot come on the grounds with dogs in your car is that the ranch does will jump on your car for inspection and scratch the paint.

“Fun road trip stop off the beaten path!”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

If you're around Mora, Victory Ranch is definitely worth a stop. My family and I have been the last two years that we've been on vacation nearby (Angel Fire, about 40 minutes away). My sons (ages 4 and 1.5) loved feeding the alpacas straight from their own hands.

The tour (at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm daily) is $5 for adults and a little less for kids. It's interesting, but a little long for the kids. it dragged a bit for the 4-year old. But the feeding time at the end made it worth it for him.

The store is nice and well-stocked with alpaca fiber stuff, but it is quite pricey.

The scenery in this area is stunning, and the setting of Victory Ranch is pristine. Combine this stop with a trip to the nearby Salman Ranch Raspberry Farm, and you have a fantastic day trip for your family!

“A nice drive to a beautiful place!”
Reviewed June 17, 2011

We visited the Victory Ranch on June 17th, 2011. This is about a 2 hour drive from Los Alamos, but the scenery is beautiful. We arrived in time for the 11am tour/feeding of the alpaccas. It was a lot of fun. Very relaxed. The 5 or 6 giant pyrennes dogs that we saw are very friendly too. There are about 300 alpaccas happily playing in the fields. They were sheared about a week ago (around June 10th if you want to plan to see them before they have been trimmed). After about an hour, there was some activity in one of the fields and a baby alpacca was carried/walked back to the area with other mothers and babies born in the last couple weeks. They also have a pretty good size gift shop with a variety of alpacca products. Hope you enjoy. Cost to feed is $5 for adults.
