“Quality has suffered last few years...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2012

Los Compas now has three locations... and their quality has suffered. They used to have the best enchiladas, best burritos, best prices in town, and decent food overall. Now their food is just mediocre and their prices have shot up. They have gotten our orders wrong the last 3 out of 3 times and or missed an item. Ok Mexican food, just not the best in town anymore :(

“Best Mexican Cuisine of Mesilla Valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2012

This out of the way restaurant is a local favorite. Be prepared to get in line. Come early for the Gorditas as they often run out. Very authentic and no frills. This is a very plain atmoshpere- not a lot of seating space and many take their foor to-go. This is benchmark Mexican food - you will compare all others to this and have a hard time finding it's equal anywhere in the US...

The Chile is local and the "hotness" varies day to day. During the regional drought, chile has been hotter than average- so expect a bit of heat. If this type of food uspets your digestion or "burns twice" have some ice cream afterwards to help calm the afterburn. :-)

“Took a shot on this one”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2011

You place your order as you enter and there was a line. I asked the gentleman in front of us if he came here often, he answered he did. We found a table and the chips and salsa where delivered with our drinks. We did have to wait for what seemed a long time, but the food was wonderful. Now I'm not saying it's the best I've ever had, but it was good.

“One of my Favorites”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2011

I believe this was the first Mexican restaurant I visited on moving to Las Cruces, and it still ranks high in my list of local eateries. Probably the best salsa in to matched with equally good chips. Inexpensive specials at breakfast and lunch every day of the week. My favorite breakfast if the Huevos a la Mexicana, and for lunch/dinner I love the Carne Adovada.

They have three locations in town, and that which I frequent is on Bataan Memorial West. There you place your order at the counter, and take you drink, chips and salsa to your table. Your food will be served promptly and piping hot.

“Not recommended”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2010

We went to the Los Compas on 6335 Bataan Memorial W. in Las Cruces NM, and the food was terrible. The tamales and tacos were flavorless and cold. The beans were runny and tasteless. The chile rellenos were soggy and tasteless. The beef fajitas were tough and there wasn't enough food on a combination platter to fill you up. The prices were very high for the amount of food. We certainly won't be going back!
