A trip back into history with excellent shopping and dining options. Don't miss the history of the plaza area and the dining options in historical settings. Even some resident ghosts in several buildings.

I get to Mesilla about twice a year to eat at the Double Eagle. Why wasn't the Double Eagle on this list - it is outstanding.

A well preserved historic area with several souvenir shops and art galleries. Not too large an area, it is easy to walk everywhere within the district, not far from the downtown Las Cruces area.

Like walking back in time for a true taste of old New Mexico while still being vital today. Lovely old buildings preserved in their original styles. Nice variety of shops and restaurants too. We were there for the celebration of Dia de los Muertos and loved this meaningful cultural experience and the warm relaxed and festive atmosphere.

I love to come here on Sundays to take a walk around the plaza when all of the artisans are selling their craft, music playing, the relaxed feeling of the weekend. Its a peaceful place. Of course some touristy shops with overpriced items that are not authentic but if you know where to look you will find some gems and a little bit of history.
