High Desert is the only microbrewery in town that brews onsite. The food is great...try the green chile stew with jalapeno cornbread, or if that's too spicy, go for the cheeseburger and add sweet potato fries. Their beers are fresh and ice cold; if you don't like beer, try one of their homemade root beers. The servers are fun and full of energy. At the High Desert, you will find people of all ages from all walks of life! There are regulars-a group of locals that meet for an hour every Monday (very entertaining!), young folks who stop for a refreshment on their bicycle ride, Friday "happy hour" people who want to avoid a larger, noisier place. Your dog is welcome (outside.) Caution: Smoking is allowed on the patio

We stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. Had a couple of flights to see what beers we liked. My favorite was the Oktoberfest. For dinner I had a tomatillo chipoltle quesadilla and a side of green chili stew. Both were very spicy and good. The only negative was that some of the tables were very tippy and the chairs were a little mangled. It was also a little hard to find in the dark.

Homemade brew, great selection. Try the nachos, but make sure your order the small size, big enough to feed an army!

This is a nice local brewpub. I had the fresh hop IPA and it was very good, and priced well. The food is good pub grub and priced very reasonably as well. Las Cruces is lucky to have a nice, friendly brewpub, that is pet friendly as well.

High Desert Brewing Co. has been around some 17 years, and has a loyal group of local fans. It's nestled in an industrial area away from the mall crowds. A small front covered patio welcomes folks with dogs and friendly chat makes you feel at home. If the temperature is a bit high, inside it's nice and cool in the summer. The beer menu is extensive (27), but they brew up a limited number for their taps, and also allows for a varied and changing brew selection. We visited on Labor Day, and enjoyed their Oktoberfest, which was slightly spicy and aromatic and very smooth. I also tried the Porter, which was dark and toasty, and would be great for after your meal. They offer IPA's, specialty brews and wheat varieties. And don't overlook their hand-crafted Root Beer if you're the designated driver or "teetotaler".

The "Pub grub" food menu is varied and interesting. They have a nice burger selection and great appetizer munchies featuring local spicy chili. The sandwiches are really special. The wife enjoyed a wonderful Turkey and Avocado sandwich, and I enjoyed the Ruben with a great crunch of Sauerkraut. They also have Quesadillas and luscious chicken sandwiches.

They do feature live entertainment on Thursdays and Saturdays (8pm - 11pm) with a nice rotating list of performers from around the country.

Fun and friendly staff, great beer and wonderful food - what's not to like? A must try if you favor hand-crafted beer.
